Why is frontline so awful and why is it not being fixed?

Literally all you can do is just make it a normal full party and not a full raid party and it would be alot better then how it is currently, I don't even care if you changed it to randomize no matter what faction it is just cut down the party size, It's so difficult to target things and it's always a mess. I just want my cool mecha mount, all I care about frontline now is the extra exp I get just to level up my classes now. Even then I usually expect to lose or just not enjoy playing it at all with the amount of a clustersmuck it is.

How do you people enjoy frontline? Why is it so painful?

I prefer full alliance because the skill level seems to average out more and you can potentially grab more of the map and also hit more enemies with AoE.

That being said, how well it goes depends on how experienced your overall alliance is, whether you have enough tanks and healers, whether they (and dps) do their job and watch the map, whether someone does good callouts, whether people actually follow them, and a lot of dumb luck in the form of RNG node spawns and whether the other teams (and yours) are trying to win or fighting for third place.

3-way matches by their very nature are also kind of "vote who wins" contests. So you can play well as a team and still lose if the other teams consistently gang up on you.

All in all I am OK with where frontline is at. I want shatter and seal rock to come back so I can get those mounts also.

For targeting I find macros using /targetenemy, <tt> and <1> to be useful. I basically do no damage as BLM playing on controller without some target macro help. I kind of wish PvP
BLM had more area (rather than enemy) targeted AoE.

Also it is so much better with the random matchmaking vs. the old system that prioritized maelstrom! I am close to 30/30/40 cumulative now whereas before I was close to 0/25/75 on immortal flames.

I don't want 8v8v8 back, though I think we should have 8v8 back for when the queue is quiet. Technically that was The Feast though they could rebrand.

I do think the 72 player 3 team configuration works well for frontline. Objectives are semi-random. Player skill distribution is random. Everything is inherently conducive to chaos and it should embrace that.

Someone suggested that I change my key-binds. So now I have it to where my tab button selects the enemy closest to me rather than filtering through people. It's really helpful- specifically as melee.

There are many reasons why I like frontlines. Mostly because I've met so many people and made a lot of friends from it. Playing with them (whether it's duo or a light party) makes Frontlines more enjoyable.

I'd also like 8v8v8 to make a comeback too but its because i'd like to also play during off-peak hours again. It'd be a nice plus for the people who can't play during their DC prime time. And the break from zergfests would be nice without having to depend on just feast for my fix. 8v8v8 is a nice in-between for me.

They did fix it a few years ago ... when they finally walked away from the idiotic 3-way nature of the original version of FFXIV battlegrounds known as frontlines.
