    Trust Deliberately Failing Painted Sapling Tethers

    Frequency: Always

    Retainer name: n/a
    NPC name: Ryne, Urianger, and Thancred
    Monster name: Griaule and Painted Saplings
    Class/Level: SAM 74
    Party or solo: Trust
    In-game time: 11PM
    Area and coordinates: Dohn Mheg 11.3, 9.0
    Housing: n/a
    Steps:
    1. Start Griaule fight
    2. When Painted Sprouts spawn, stand in one of the tethers on the opposite side of the boss from the Trust NPCs.
    3. Watch one of the Trust NPCs come all the way across from the other side of the boss to stand in front of you, leaving two of the tethers open and giving Griaule two growth stacks.
    4. Try taking one of the tethers on the other side of the boss at the next Painted Sprouts spawn.
    5. Watch one of the Trust NPCs come all the way across again and take the tether you are standing in.
    6. One more round of same and the boss is at full growth
    7. Die when the boss casts Tiiiimbeeer the next time.

    While the trust's way of reacting to that mechanic is a bit wonky, I'm not sure if it's a bug. They generally have a preset of spots to walk to during mechanics.

    An easy way to work around their behaviour is to just let them pick a tether first, before picking one yourself. Always worked for me, back when I spammed those dungeons to get my trusts to 80.

    The bug that I'm seeing is that they don't go to the same spot, relative to the boss, on any consistent basis. I'm trying to guess where they'll be so I have time to get a combo in before moving. I don't know why they don't just go to the closest tether to them when the adds spawn.

    They don't always move to the same spot. As a melee, it should be fairly easy to adjust to a different tether.

    That's exactly what I'm talking about. The NPCs aren't consistent in how they behave.

    I always just waited until they took their spots before I grabbed mine. You have to base your movements on what they do first.
