So I just discovered this feature.. and joined one. Are they kind of like cross world linkshells? I don't see any area where we can chat or anything like that. Maybe I'm missing something but.. if we can't chat.. what's the point?

"We want bunny suits for guys!" -- OK! ✅
"We want Ishgard housing!" -- OK! ✅
"We want Viera!" -- OK! ✅
"We want Cloud's motorcycle!" -- OK! ✅
"We want Blue Mage!"-- OK! ✅
"We want the ability to earn past Feast rewards!" - HAHA no that's sacred.
It's a panel for information or events.
No more, no less ^^
they specifically designed it without a chat in mind.
I think they said they just put it in for another way to connect to people that enjoy the same things that you do. IE: People who like to cook, people that like a certain tv show, etc.
A mini linkshell if you will.
Glad you asked, because I took the leap to try and make friends and joined one the other day.
I left within about an hour when I realized it was what Grann-Goro and DrWho2010 said.
I wasn't trying to jump through hoops to join a Discord channel and all that went with it. I just wanted to join a thing in game. But nope.
I keep forgetting they exist. Only one of the six or so I joined ever actually posts anything, and it's a blue mage event organizer lol
Which is cool I guess but just not something I really use much

They're useful as message boards for getting messages out to lots of people easily. It's also a useful tool for FC recruiting. On Balmusng, easily half of the fellowships are for finding like-minded RPers.
Oh so it's just like a giant bulletin board.. no chat. well... that's uh.. a lot of extra hoops just for a discord channel. No thanks. I don't even know how to leave it now that I've joiend. Is it like Hotel California Eorzea edition?![]()

There is no real point sadly. It really feels like the fellowship system is something that should have been added to existing linkshell systems (or something) rather than be made into their own thing that's tucked into the corner and never sees regular use by the average player.
FWIW, the Japanese community supposedly makes use of it a lot. I'm not part of the RP community, but it seems they have taken it and run with it as a way to reach out to other RPers. I think the reason it wasn't baked into linkshells was because you might not always want/need a fellowship to be associated with one and there's nothing stopping a linkshells from creating a fellowship for themselves.
