    Intense lag spikes

It just started out of nowhere after spending hours crafting, the game decides to start throwing LONG duration lag spikes to the point of not being able to craft or even teleport. I've tried resetting my router and checking to see if its my drivers that need to be updated but I'm not seeing any changes.

Good morning and thank you for visiting the Final Fantasy XIV Technical Support Forums.

Are you connected directly to the router or are you using WiFi? Additionally, please try the following:

    - Configure the Internet Explorer web browser
Final Fantasy XIV will use the Internet Explorer web browser to connect to the internet. As such, it needs to have the proper configurations to avoid connection issues. Adjust the following settings in the Internet Explorer (not Microsoft Edge) web browser.
Open the IE browser, open the "Tools", go to "Internet Options" and adjust the following settings:
    - Under the "General" tab, please delete ALL browser history.
    - Under the "Security" tab, please move the slider to the lowest possible settings or no higher than "Medium"
    - Under the "Privacy" tab, click “Advanced” and select ‘Accept’ under both First Party and Third Party Cookies.
    - Under the "Advanced" tab, please make sure that "Allow software to run or install even if signature is invalid" is CHECKED.
    - Make sure that all SSL and TLS (EXCEPT SSL 3.0) are CHECKED. [SSL 3.0 should be UNCHECKED]
    - Hit "Apply" to save the settings, and then "OK, to close the Internet Options menu.

Firstly I would like to say, I have been playing the following MMO's for years and 1 or 2 for over a decade: World of Warcraft, TERA, Elder Scrolls Online, others I won't mention as I have not played them recently. I do not have any latency issues with ANY of these other MMO's during prime time hours, all played from the same connection. I only have latency related lag spikes when playing FFXIV during peak/prime time as a general rule and almost daily at around the same time. This usually continues right throughout til the server load reduces which leads me to believe it is a capacity issue, I would be more than happy to have this proven not to be the case.

I have connected to the router via ethernet. I do not use Wireless at all because of its instability, don't even own Wireless hardware components. I am on gigabit fibre, the very best I can get, my speed tests are as expected.

Can you provide ping/tracert/any other tests I can conduct to get to the bottom of this issue please.

    Thank you.

Good afternoon and thank you for the reply.

    Could you try the following:

    - Port Forward – open the following ports ranges on your router:
    ▼TCP
    54992 through 54994,
    55006 through 55007,
    55021 through 55040

These are remote ports in your router’s firewall. They designate what can send information to your PC and what cannot. These specific ports are used by the game to connect to the local client.
