Blue Mage - Concerning Aetherial Mimicry & class based skills.

When running threw the various savage fights to get the Morbol mount it becomes apparent that the various jobs that the fight will use to launch it's mechanics can sometimes fire randomly at the different party members. It would be nice if the Mimicry would actually designate you as that job mechanic-wise besides just it's boost in enmity or healing.

Also for tanking it would be nice to have a single target provoke, cause Frog Legs & the Look both pull with an aoe and that can have terrible effects in some fights.

Well, you're not wrong. Because mimicry doesn't designate the actual role, everyone has to be ready to act on the mechanics which can be a pain for strategies that you normally have based on them. Likewise, you can't rely on Frog Legs to keep aggro if anyone does anything as all it does is put you at the top of the aggro list by 1 point.

I don't know why they don't just literally reskin Frog Legs to be Provoke, but for the moment you'll have to settle for just working around it until the next patch update for the content where they inevitably put in a spell to outright replace it.

This was part of the fun of A8S and such, needing to know every possible outcome. I actually preferred it over role selection that a regular party would have gotten.

Instead of needing to find someone of the right role to copy, using Aetherial Mimicry on them, and then still having to deal with all mechanics as if nobody were the correct role, I would rather they just made it so that at Lv60 there was a quest that granted two more BLU soul stones, that would set your role to tank or healer, respectively. It really shouldn't take a significant amount of work. Make them all the same job with shared levels and actions, but just with differing roles and a trait that bakes in the corresponding Aetherial Mimicry buff.

This could still happen. I'd like to stay somewhat optimistic and believe that the BLU will eventually blossom into a real job that can run as any of the 3 Roles. You won't be using the same, more gimmicky attacks though. You'd have to go through the process of refining your spells, or something to that nature. Possibly some new content added to BLU that requires you to use certain spells that are essential for the different roles. Once you completely refine all the spells associated with that role, you get to now run as Blue Mage+ (Tank), Blue Mage+ (Caster DPS), or Blue Mage+ (Healer) and actually do things like roulettes and the rest of the game's content.
