Replacement Skysteel prototype?

I opened the Skysteel Coffer from the as CRP initially, and got a prototype saw. Decided I wanted to do it as WR instead, so I abandoned the quest "work it harder, make it better" Unfortunately, I couldn't complete it because I still had the saw.
Abandoned again, deleted the saw, tried again, but no-go because I didn't have the prototype needle.

I bought a new needle from Denys (80K), equipped it, but it says I don't have the right item equipped as WVR. I assume it requires the one from the coffer, which I don't have because the coffer was consumed when I got the saw from it.

So, how do I get a new coffer, or the prototype needle for the "Work it Harder..." quest?

The 80k Skysteel Needle is what you want. I can't imagine they'd give out coffers for free just for abandoning the quest and starting over, because then people wouldn't be spending 80k gil on them.
My question is, did you actually upgrade it to the final step, the Dragonsung Needle? You seem to be trying to turn in the quest but you haven't said you've done what it asks.

For the "Work it harder"-Quest you need a completed dragonsung-tool. It doesn't matter which one.
To get it to dragonsung you need to upgrade your prototype two times.

Unfortunately, the quest that gives out the coffer was "Mislaid Plans", which completes when the coffer is opened, so it can't be abandoned to get another (I forgot which quest supplied it).

I was trying to craft "Oddly Specific Moonbeam Silk" with the skysteel needle I bought from Denys, but it failed, saying that I didn't have an item equipped (I did have the needle equipped) Strangely, I was able to craft "Oddly Specific Velvet" earlier. so maybe I had the wrong needle equipped. I just tried it again after being logged off for a few hours, and it worked this time. The only difference was that when I made the velvet, I had equipped the needle from my main inventory. When it failed, I had equipped it from the armory chest.
This time, I equipped it by clicking my main hand slot, and dragging my Facet needle to the Skysteel one in the armory chest to swap them.
I don't have any other needles in my armory chest.
So, either there's a problem with right-click equipping this item from the armory chest, or that equip attempt failed for some reason, and I ended up with the Facet one still equipped, but I swear I confirmed it.
Anyway, it's resolved now (for 80K, which dropped me back under 42 million

Just went to do the first upgrade, and found that it needs 20 Moonbeam Silks, and I had only made one... Oh well, back to gathering. no.. Scrip spending and earning for 19 more Oddly Specific Cotton. I need to check first to see if these tools will be a worthwhile upgrade over HQ Facet ones. - Just checked. Even the +1 version is inferior to the Facet one. I guess these are just for new crafters coming up through the Ishgard restoration stuff. I'm done with this quest line.
