    White Mage Elements.

Helo. When they launched the Relic Resistace Weapon for WHM it kind of reminded me the conjuring days before you started doing Job Quest White Mage.
The class/job overall was/used to be heavy element orientated on paper but if you "study" (like me) on the casting animation each spells had a "color" to determinate which element you are casting... just like Black Mage. Hence i think i am allowed to assume those spells are assigned to an "element".
It can't or mayby not be a coincidence that they deisgned the class/job with elements on mind even tho some spells doesnt even look like their element... the casting animation just makes me assume it.

I may be totally mistaken too beacuse the spells i assumes are water.. share the same animation for other classes but still even the smallest detail makes me wierd cuse i tend to go bit overboard on smallest detail.

Shadowbringers they kinda drifted the elemental aspect with no sign of explaination but only to assume that we aquired Glare and Dia beacuse of "enviorment" and gaining experience on the First.
Which is a shame honestly beacuse i i'd like to know the "growth" for each class (and heavy explaination on jobs with element related just like summoner).

I personally dont dislike Glare or Dia i think they are cool but i sometimes miss the Stones Spells beacuse it felt statisfying for my preference when im a engaging in battle.
Overall i hoped for more extended existing elements and actually hoped to see how Stone V would look like ^^.

I made a list of what colour of spells is shown when you cast them.

    Wind:
    Cure I/II/III
    Medica I/II
    Aero I/II (III)
    Regen
Wind acted as our healing spells and dot related.

    Water:
    Esuna (Role now)
    Fluid Aura
    Benediction
    Asylum
    Assize
    Thin Air
    Tetragrammaton
    Divine Bension
    Plenary Indulgence
    Temperance
Water acted as our "supportive" spells.

    Earth:
    Stone I, II, III, IV
Earth acted as our offensive Spell.

    Light(?):
    Holy
    Glare
    Dia
Light now acts as our offensive Spells.

    Non Element:
    Afflatus Solace
    Afflatus Rapture
    Afflatus Misery(Mayhaps Water?)
    Acts as gaining a lily.

What are your guys thoughts on that? Is there a better explaination mayhap? Am i missing something?
Does the lore book say anything? Why not address it to Yoshida?

I can show pictures and you can look in game for yourself if you want!

Nice observation. I never really considered/recognized(?) Asylum, Assize and Benediction as water based actions due to their animations, so it'd be nice if they had a more watery effect, like Benison or Thin Air. More elements less glitter please!

I always figured the Cure line to be water-based, partly so conjurer has spells they actually use of that element and also because water has classically been associated with healing.

It's been observed from the very early days of the game, though you've put together the most thorough list I've seen. With one criticism - on the instants it's a bit questionable since they don't have a 'charging the spell' phase of the animation.

I don't know that it's ever been explicitly acknowledged in the lore, though I also don't have the books - but if you ask in the Lore forums, someone over there might.

I do think it's slightly regrettable that WHM is becoming more and more holy/cleric-like. I enjoyed the elemental flavoring.

The elemental part of WHM is what drew me in. Random, but after playing some of the VII Remake, I do feel XIV's WHM was inspired by Aerith (even the limit break has a nod to her) so it makes it cooler that WHM isn't holy/cleric- inspired to begin with. There's something satisfying about the healing kit being air and water. I thought Glare and Dia were okay, but Stone IV had a very satisfying sound and animation. And let's not forget how cool Aero 3 was.

Overall, it's interesting that the new relic weapon is more nature-like so maybe Glare and Dia were just for ShB and the light aspect? Who knows, some people have been suspecting the nature removal is for Geomancer.

I also always liked WHM's nature-themed spells, especially earth. But on the other hand I also like that it gets more light-aspected spells. I would be fine with not getting the earth/wind/water spells back if we get Geomancer as a new healer.

Oh, I also think it's nice that the summon Eos animation is wind, and Selene is earth. It's probably only because it originally was from Emerald and Topaz Carbuncle, but still.

I really do miss the elements WHM used to have, it was a huge part of what drew me into playing it for years as I love Druid/Nature related jobs. If they removed the elemental focus to make way for Geomancer then that’s totally understandable, but if not then it’s a great shame. I don’t enjoy the purely light/flower theme of WHM now, it felt a lot more punchy and cool with the other elements. Also, who else misses Aero 3?

An important note to make, which may confuse the list of Water "spells" a bit, is that most oGCD abilities in fact use the same cyan/blue particle effect when activated, regardless of element or even magical origin.

I'm here to second this one ^. I always assumed the oGCD's used the same color to signify them as oGCDs.

The elemental changes in Shadowbringer made sense to me only because Conjurers use magic by drawing from the elementals around them, and in the First, there's almost a complete lack of any element besides Light.
