    Game crashes randomly with no error message

    Hi all, I hope someone can help me with this.

    Starting yesterday the game client would randomly crash to the desktop with no error message, sound or (seeming) reason. Game one momment and then desktop the next. The time this takes from starting the game can take anywhere from a few minutes to a couple of hours.

    After the first time this happned I checked for any updates that my computer or it's drivers might need and installed a couple of Windows updates that I had somehow missed. Unfortuently this didn't help and I am still having the same issue more than 24 hours later.

    Strangely enouph one crash resulted in this error message:



    I have not had this error message since.

    As you can probably tell from my rambling report I am not super technicly proficiant! So please if you can tell me what I need to do to resolve this issue I would be very grateful.

    You are not the only one. Check the technical support forum around your post, and you'll see this is a common issue since the latest patch. It could not have come at a worse time, with everyone stuck at home during lockdown.

    Yeah I have the same error. That's really sad. It happens to a lot of people.

    Is it possible that it is onlly happenign to people with certain hardware? I can see a few other people on this forum are having this issue as well but I can't see any sort of general outcry on Twitter or Reddit that you would think would accompany such a major fault. :/

    So, I just reinstalled my Operating System & the Game too. It seems to be working now. I have played for about 3 hours now with no crashes whatsoever.

    Reinstalled your operating system!? You mean uninstalling Windows and reinstallign? Surely there must be a better way than that!

    As of Windows 10 it's relatively straightforward, you just go to Settings > Update & Security > Recovery. It should only take a couple of hours to do that and install your apps again. It's not like the old days where you'd have to wipe your drive and install fresh off a CD.

    Are you able to provide a system report? Simply go to the 'Config' option on the Final Fantasy XIV launcher and to the right of 'System Information' click on 'Display.'

    I can confirm that reinstalling the entire OS was the only thing that fixed this for me.

    I don't see how we need to reinstall an OS to fix an issue the game cause from an update.
