Game crashes randomly with no error message

I've been having this issue as well since the 5.25 update, but mustly the error-less CTD.

No, I get what you're saying, Stitch. But this problem is not going to get fixed in a reasonable time, because that time has passed. This is likely to be fixed on a Square Enix schedule. They already sent out an email announcing they will delay their next patch, citing coronavirus, so I would guess this obscure issue won't get fixed until then.

You're right, we don't "need" to reinstall our operating systems, because technically this is not our problem. However, if you want to play FFXIV without fear of game crashing (right now, and in the foreseeable future), this seems to be the only solution. A lighter version of this solution could be to create a new, standard Windows user, and see how that works, running FFXIV alone, without any other processes running in the background.

Before reinstalling, I tried that, but didn't stick with it because I still had other stuff to do. Then yesterday I went ahead and reinstalled everything for the big win. No crashing since.

i see what you are saying. i under stand the state we are in at the moment with everyone at home, but this happens to multiple people, what they need to do with everyone that complains about the issue is to extend their subscription or fix it. if this was a free to play then yes i would not care. but since we all pay to have access to the game server with little bugs because no game is perfect. we should not have to worry about their update that makes our PC crash it should have been tested before hand because the list of people having issue is a large amount. you seem a few comments about you not the only one. i would do the whole PC OS install but since this PC is a multi user for my wife work and mine. i dont want to take that chance in messing something up and being screwed. yes i can rebuild the PC if something wrong happens but i feel i should not need to do this. so i guess im going to wait until they fix it and once they do im going to ask for a refund or extended time.

If you haven't tried is already, I'd recommend trying both of the following:

1) Perform a clean boot. Simply open the task manager and select the 'Start up' tab. Disable everything here and restart the PC. This will make sure that no background processes are interfering with the game.

2) Reinstall the game. When you do, make sure to remove the locally-saved data folder (located My Documents > My Games > Final Fantasy XIV). Be sure to make a backup of this just in case it doesn't resolve the issue.
