Why is fishing not as "spot" friendly as mining and botanist?

Fishing has gotten the short end of the "pole" when it comes to locating names of fish and where to fish. Mining and Botanist have a great gathering log. Sparkly alerts you can see, little icons on the mini map! What do fishers get? I've yet to see anything on my mini map as an indicator to where the fish are..and the bit about the cursor glowing is bunk, it flashes so quick I can barely see it change. Yes the fishing log shows where you should fish, but it has to be opened every time, I can't just look at my mini map and see where to fish. I've been reading about tiny dots on the map that I don't have, is it a console thing that doesn't show up on desktop computers? Is this old info that doesn't apply any more?

"When you engage in Fishing, you will notice on your mini map small dots. These dots indicate not only where the fish are relative to you, but also the 'type' of fish.

There are three kinds:
-Yellow dot (edible fish, used in cooking recipes).
-Blue dot (small trophy fish, material gained for catching).
-Glowing blue dot (large trophy fish, dubbed 'boss fish', superior material gained for catching)."

Am I missing a whole chapter on how to fish or is it really that fishers have to work harder at gathering?

I’ve never heard of or noticed any dots on the map, and I’m console.

You probably didn't notice OP, but those guides are for Final Fantasy 15, not 14.
