Does anyone actually pvp in this game?

Yes, people do PvP. You have to queue during your data centers prime time for quicker queues. Primals prime time is about 8PM EST but depending on the mode you're queueing for, it can pop sooner.

Currently the only Frontlines map that is popping is Onsal Hakair (Danshig Naadam) because it's the most recent and only one available through the Daily Challenge. There is currently a ranked feast season but depending on the role you're queueing depends on how long you'll wait for a pop. Rival Wings (Hidden Gorge) only pops during a community event Saturday's @8pm EST.

And just a heads up, it's recommended that you go to the wolves den and set-up your PvP hotbar and practice on a striking dummy first.

Yeah I meant more like, Feast pvp. Frontlines is cancer zergfest. None of the FCs on my server seem to have anyone that does feast like, at ALL.

There is no team ranked season right now. just solo. queue up ranked feast-- its popping now on primal*. ranged has longest queue

More people queue at the beginning of a season. It tends to die out until only higher ranked people queue. But this season is going on until July probably so maybe people will get bored and make alts to queue unranked.

I'm not exactly super involved in this game as my interest tends to die out as I get bored of the PvE after a month or two and the PvP never seemed to hook but I've been playing off and on since ARR and I've never seen the PvP community be very active. I know this is kind of an obvious statement considering it's very clearly a PvE game with PvP tacked on but I mean I haven't so much as seen groups listed and asking around I've never seemed to find even so much as three other people interested in queuing team feast. Clearly they exist as there are leaderboards showing them but I'm just having difficulty finding them. Is there a specific server where people tend to congregate in regards to PvP? And is the barrier of entry and required experience super imposing? I really love this game but I need something to keep my interest up in between content patches and getting bored of the PvE.

I am a JRPG/RPG gamer at heart and PvE definitely has it place; however, I am also a competitive gamer as well who finds enjoyment with PvP. As a new player, I question to continue playing until I reach end-game to find out all that FFXIV has to offer. Since this game is heavily invested in PvE and knowing that PvP is more or less an afterthought weigh heavily on my motivation. I love FF franchise, and I am beginning to think that FFXIV might not be for me and will most likely just stick with their single player RPG.
The lackluster of skills per job, now knowing what I should expect when I reach end game for PvP, PvE for Raids, etc, I find it hard to continue.

With other MMO on the horizon, shall not mention any, it is looking to revamp the saturated market and those into MMORPG are just waiting around for the next best thing.

Entice a new player to stay with FFXIV after all I have learned.
