Materia Overmelding - Process Refinement

Materia overmelding can be such a pain in the butt sometimes, right? Sure, you might get lucky once in a while, but then you'll stumble into that 10% chance that ends up burning through 42 materia while you scream in a Limsan dialect. I have a proposition - an idea - which would make this process a bit more sane!

You know how we have totems for the completion of difficult trials? Those totems remove a bit of the pain caused by RNG. You are guaranteed a mount after (ugh) 99 runs. My idea: let's take that concept and apply it to materia! The way it would work is like this:

For every failed materia overmeld or removal, you would get one "Materia Dust" item. I mean, that materia went kablooey, so it would make sense to have at least a hint of dust left, right? "Well dang, what would we do with that dust?" I hear you asking. As it turns out, our ol' pal Mutamix Bubblypots knows a thing or two about mashing up materia, and has managed to figure out how to make a special oil from all that dust! This oil is guaranteed to help with the success or removal of materia!


Grade 1 Materia Oil
