I think these tickets are only there for people who do this stuff so much that they have nothing else they want to buy (and don't care about gil I guess).

There are a lot of items that are too expensive for what they do, they are probably in-game just to waste currency when the player has nothing else to buy.
That doesn't mean I support such prices, they should be worth accordingly to their function!.
I have adder ones to save me teleporting from The First or anywhere in the east, anything that makes the eorzea teleports 999. Two loading screens but saves gil and I'm cheap enough to do it
Exactly how many retainers and ventures do you have? Those are actually not that bad if you are Maelstrom. When you hit Stormblood, I find you start to hit limitations of reasonable ways you can spend your GC seals after you have thousands of ventures and the crafting materials are drying up in value on your world, including the ones you get from desynth. Still not worth it for Twin Adders or Immortal Flames IMO but I'll gladly skip a loading screen for Maelstrom. It is kind of like 14k seals/week luxury service.
Because, I'm shuddering in horror that you're not spending GC seals on Coke/Hardened Saps either to sell or craft your own submarines/other things and instead blowing them on teleport tickets.
Coke and Hardened Saps sell by the thousands daily. I know because I visit every world on Crystal at least twice a day looking for Coke and Hardened Saps. Can go through 3-5k Coke and 2-3k Hardened Saps a week.
Likewise, I'm sure other crafters/submarine builders would love to have more Coke/Hardened Sap up on the MB.

well they must be really expensive to make too since those locations do not have a teleport crystal.
4 retainers. Now I keep around 1k ventures, buying more when I dip below.
Both of those items are worth <500 gil/ea on Primal according to a quick lookup. Even if I optimistically price it to 500 gil, and spent those 14k seals on them, and sold all of them, and had no taxes, I'd get 35000 gil/week, or about 1.8m gil a year. Even if I quadrupled the value to say maybe I looked at a bad time to give you the benefit of the doubt, that's still a pittance.Because, I'm shuddering in horror that you're not spending GC seals on Coke/Hardened Saps either to sell or craft your own submarines/other things and instead blowing them on teleport tickets.

If you are "shuddering in horror" over how someone is spending a run's worth of GC seals, a trivial virtual currency worth a trivial amount of gil in a videogame, you really need to re-evaluate where you are placing your emotional investment in life.
Prices for different materials vary from Data Center to Data Center. Right now (checking via FFXIV companion) Coke costs 320 gil and Hardened Sap costs 600 gil on Spriggan (Chaos, EU). Not the most beneficial deal, if you ask me, Retainer can bring much more valuable materials from Hunting ventures (Dhalmel Hide, which is... 55 lvl hunt iirc, costs 1700 gil atm).Exactly how many retainers and ventures do you have?

Now some math:
Hardened Sap - 200 GC Seals for 1 piece, 600 Gil - tax
Coke - 200 GC Seals for 1 piece, 320 Gil - tax
Dhalmel HIde - 2 Ventures, 400 GC Seal, 10 pieces with some of them potentionally being HQ, 17000 Gil - tax.
That said, if you want to raise gil with GC seals, where you spend them will depends a lot on a market of your Data Center. Also on how fast prices fall and raise again. Economy of each world is not as simple as "just buy that and you're rich", sadly or not.
The ticket effectively reduces the load screens you have to go through to get to the firmament. We're talking less than a minute saved, but when your FC announces that the FATE is about to start, and you're off in the boonies, that ticket is godsend.
Worth 500 scrips? Probably not, but unless they keep pouring items into that NPC; you'll need something to dump them on eventually I suppose.
Jestful hyperbole buddy. Hakuna your tatas.
But your point about prices varying on data centres and if you consider it a pittance is valid.
Hardened Saps can reach 1k each on Crystal.Coke about 700-800gil each. And the volume which moves daily.
