Steam, PS4 and non-Steam versions of XIV

Hi! I don’t know if this is the appropriate place to make this post, so my apologies if it isn’t, but I had a couple of questions about switching versions.

When I first started the game, I bought the Steam version. I played on a really crappy laptop so I moved over to PS4 as soon as I could. Currently I play Shadowbringers on PS4 and I own the digital CE for each expansion. I’ve been meaning to switch to PC for a while now that I have a good one, but I no longer wish to use Steam. If I buy the game again on the Square store, am I able to use my same account/character? Also do I have to buy the CEs again or does that not matter? Am I stuck using Steam?

We apologize for any inconvenience that has occurred. The Steam and Windows versions of Final Fantasy XIV are incompatible with each other. If you have the Steam license already registered to the SQUARE ENIX ID, you will need to purchase the game on Steam. Due to the incompatibility between the two platforms, if you were to purchase a Windows registration key, the Mog Station website will not accept the code.

Thank you! And what about the CEs, do I need to repurchase or is that not necessary?

If you have Steam CD keys in your account (the one you also use to play on PS4) then you can't add non-steam windows cd keys.


So, you're stuck playing on Steam.


The platform itself doesn't matter for your CE. If you have PS4 CE, you can just use a regular cd key for Steam you will have acces to the CE items that came trough your PS4 CE.
