Eureka it still pretty lively for shit content. Weird.

It sure is and many of us loved the content. Interesting to see how many people have marbles when A train hunting.

It sure wasn't a failure although according to the forum soothsayers Anemos was supposed to die when the first wave of people hit 20 and would give up on the content. No one would ever get to Hydatos but oddly enough this alt just earned a WHM relic there with fairly well populated zones and an active BA Discord group running that content almost daily.

If you haven't given it a try lately the nerfs have made the content very manageable even with small groups. I am glad to see they haven't nerfed BA though.

This is exactly the community right now on EVERYTHING. You have part of the community who didn't like it and part who did. Then when SE does something different for a first-part relic it happens again. Some of the community likes it, some doesn't. SE just can't win no matter how they try to implement things to appease their players. You will always have people who are divided and will complain.

For my part, since ARR, what I'm waiting is a relic with two possible ways. I don't mind the feeling it takes forever to complete. I'm more bothered if there is some kind of wall that block the path. Grinding for an half from time to time is fine to me. But an Ex (or Coil or Savage/Ultimate), if I have to lock three hours, three evening a week, to train and farm Ex... I will just pass, because of the latency I often have especially in prime time.

The description of the fights in the patchnote really make me think we will end with some kind of Eureka where fates are replaced by the sons (and/or the daughters ;p) of BA with some Ex. To slow down other players because of some wipe related to my bad ping doesn't sound to me as a fair behavior for other players and I wouldn't feel satisfied either the clear the content such way.

The Factory or Eden normal are already so-so because of the latency.

That is not true. There is a lot of content people don't like but will not complain about. Deep dungeon or the casino mini games are a good examples. Most people don't do Deep dungeon or the mini games, but neither get much hate. It's an extra feature for people that want to do it.
The problem with Eureka is that is was forced with the relic. Very few people would complain if we had relic like in ARR or HW and Eureka was it's own thing. People thought Diadem was crap content but it didn't get the same dissatisfaction as Eureka did. It got complains at the start, people just didn't bother doing it, and it only ended up being used for gatherers. And that is despite the fact that SE added a ton of incentives and rewards (mounts, gear, etc) for players in diadem. Last patch they gave up and just made it gatherers only.

Eureka would have just been another Diadem if relic wasn't forced in it. And people were not happy because of the previous expectations people had for relic. You had ARR and HW relic which gave you a pretty good indication of what is expected of the relic weapon and they got an entirely different thing. Combined with the fact that is was shit content with a myriad of problems, it aggravated the entire situation even more.

If people want another Eureka style content, that's fine, but it shouldn't come at the expense of relic. Let it be its own thing and survive on its own merits. Besides relic has always been (baring Stormblood) a way to repopulate old content (like fates, dungeons, etc) and forcing relic on it's own separate instance is a detriment for older content.

I'm not sure we can compare Eureka and Diadem. I agree they were somhow alike with fates, agressives mobs and grind overall but there were two different things : the conditions of access (special item to enter, sized party) and this bothering mount/wind matter.

There's always going to be multiple camps. In the case of ARR, there are a lot of things about this expansion that are ridiculous by today's standards. It was a long time ago now, and the devs still had a lot of FFXI and 1.0 residue swimming around. I'd wager that most players today from any camp would not put themselves through the un-nerfed version of the ARR relic, and those who have can all talk about those days when we walked to school uphill both ways.

I think the initial idea behind Eureka was to target that demographic of players that want those crazy grinds. Which I feel is just fine. But the relic appeals to multiple camps, so tossing it in there was an extremely erroneous decision that infuriated those who don't care for that kind of content, and feeling like they were forced to do it. I agree with the poster you quoted, and echo that content as vast as Eureka should be sustainable by its own merit.

I know personally I didn't want to run old content over and over for tomes and I seriously hope we don't see that in the actual grind steps that are coming. If anyone thinks they're not coming they're dreaming. Perhaps they didn't come soon enough for some but they will come.

There's nothing new about players demanding fresh content. It's impossible to say Eureka or any fresh content is not a direct response to that demand; or rather, this is a given. It was purely the devs decision to place the relic inside Eureka. Player's didn't ask for that. From what I recall, players were adamant about not doing another FATE grind, and having to deal with RNG when progressing relic steps, and I think players ended up dealing with both inside Eureka anyway. Most players don't mind grinding out tomes to progress relic phases because they can accomplish this while doing the roulettes they are doing everyday anyway.

Since I didn't participate in Eureka, I cannot compare its grind with any previous or current one. Since the EX trial came along with the relic quest, we cannot say that the trial is a response to the relic being too easy. I'm not sure where you are getting at there, or I am misunderstanding you. The dyeable AF gear is in there which is I feel is fine as the dyeable versions of raid gear is likewise locked behind Savage clears.

It's important to give both new and old content incentive. Many of us keep demanding that content should continue to challenge and engage us, and healers in particular are demanding that encounter design be changed. SE is over in their area, looking at the low% of players participating in EX and Savage and is likely thinking, "Why? It's already there." I think they want to get this percentage up before really changing things up when it comes to encounters. There is already tons of rewards behind EX clears, but that apparently hasn't been enough. We'll see what happens with the AF being in there.

I never said Eureka wasn't successful. From the outside looking in along with a lot of opinions on the content being bad, bad, bad; I still get the impression that Eureka was very successful, and actually sounded like a lot of players were having fun in there. I think it had a rocky start but eventually got to that point of self-sustainability that it no longer needed the incentive provided by the relic to keep it in flight. I think going forward, we are going to get elements from both Eureka and tome grinding (visiting old content) to progress the relic. I don't need a crystal ball for that though; the devs stated that's what they want to do this round. The only question is how they will accomplish this.
