Eureka was more grinding than anything.

Eureka was more grinding than anything.

Its way better than Eureka thats for sure.
However my gripe with it is the weapons look very basic, even Eureka starter weapons looked much more polished. I wish they had started the weapons at 480 and had a small grind step to get them to 485.
It was way too short and since 5.3 wont be here until July at the earliest, it will be very lackluster for a long time.
Eureka was such good content that I'm still doing it to this day, I still go back to anemos and farm it. I was done with this "grind" in an hour, I had 2k poets, I was able to obtain three weapons in one shot. That's just too easy, I get it people hate eureka, but this is the opposite extreme.

While the initial weapon quest was very short and very simple (and the process to get more weapons is even simpler), I'm not sure why everyone seems to be coming at this from the perspective that this is all we're getting. They've already said that there will be a more involved process (or multiple processes) to upgrade the weapons. That content is still coming and may end up being just as long/hard/grindy/etc. as anything we've seen in the past.
Essentially gifting everyone at least one Relic weapon is a way to get everyone invested and get their foot in the door. If it was a huge grind just to start with a potential long road ahead for it to even be of a comparable strength then you're immediately making the whole process a non-starter for a lot of people. But if you've already got the weapon and are using the weapon and liking it, then are given a way to make the weapon you already use better? It's a simple appeal.
Wouldn't know - never finished the 24 man raids from the previous expansion - so I can't even start the quest apparently. I feel bad for anybody who really isn't into that kind of thing. Seriously, wtf

I guess they made it short because people had to do all the stormblood 24man raids?
Seriously though that is kind of lame.
Really enjoying all the content so far this patch. I'm still out there grinding away for the items to complete another relic and it's nice to have something to keep me occupie...
Oh, wait no, I finished it all in a few hours day one and I'm back to last patch. Fun.
I've seen a lot of comments like "the Relic was always a rubbish catch-up weapon and pointless grind until the final patch" but just because it's always been bad, doesn't suddenly mean it's great design. My own feedback is that I wish it was a relevant, useful piece of gear that I had to work a little for and feel I earned. I wish they'd break off from this mentality that it must be rubbish so no one feels "forced" to do it and easy, so the ones who do still want it, don't need to go to any effort. Eureka was a poorly designed experimental mess and it's a little frustrating that they took our dislike towards it to mean they should delete all forms of grind or effort in the future. Sort of like a restaurant serving stale bread then removing all bread, pastry and cake from the menu in the future due to negative feedback.

Happy to see a real story for relic this go around. I'm also not bothered by having an easy first step allowing me to get all my alts and alt roles starter weapons. 485 weapon is sweet and it allows me to use my tomes on gear as opposed to tome weapons. Also happy to see relics introduced for craft and gather. I will do the gather tools but not the craft (not really good at crafting) The real grind is coming soon enough I'm sure. Hope it's more than farming 2 zillion tome stones running old content.
Not crazy about the extreme trial for dyeable gear but I can live with it.
Hoping the new zone and BA similar content are fun. Will have to wait and see.

I hadn't done it either but it was some of the best I've experienced so far!

Those raids are pretty neat and the story line that goes with it sure is excellent in my opinion. Queues are pretty short right now so if you're planning on doing it I would suggest sooner rather than later. Prior to patch the content was pretty dead and waits were terrible. The runs can be spotty relative to players running it given there are quite a few new players which can make the content a bit challenging at times.
