Really enjoying all the content so far this patch. I'm still out there grinding away for the items to complete another relic and it's nice to have something to keep me occupie...

Oh, wait no, I finished it all in a few hours day one and I'm back to last patch. Fun.

I've seen a lot of comments like "the Relic was always a rubbish catch-up weapon and pointless grind until the final patch" but just because it's always been bad, doesn't suddenly mean it's great design. My own feedback is that I wish it was a relevant, useful piece of gear that I had to work a little for and feel I earned. I wish they'd break off from this mentality that it must be rubbish so no one feels "forced" to do it and easy, so the ones who do still want it, don't need to go to any effort. Eureka was a poorly designed experimental mess and it's a little frustrating that they took our dislike towards it to mean they should delete all forms of grind or effort in the future. Sort of like a restaurant serving stale bread then removing all bread, pastry and cake from the menu in the future due to negative feedback.

Happy to see a real story for relic this go around. I'm also not bothered by having an easy first step allowing me to get all my alts and alt roles starter weapons. 485 weapon is sweet and it allows me to use my tomes on gear as opposed to tome weapons. Also happy to see relics introduced for craft and gather. I will do the gather tools but not the craft (not really good at crafting) The real grind is coming soon enough I'm sure. Hope it's more than farming 2 zillion tome stones running old content.

Not crazy about the extreme trial for dyeable gear but I can live with it.

Hoping the new zone and BA similar content are fun. Will have to wait and see.

Normality is just an average. I'm the weird, you're the bizarre.

It sure is and many of us loved the content. Interesting to see how many people have marbles when A train hunting.

It sure wasn't a failure although according to the forum soothsayers Anemos was supposed to die when the first wave of people hit 20 and would give up on the content. No one would ever get to Hydatos but oddly enough this alt just earned a WHM relic there with fairly well populated zones and an active BA Discord group running that content almost daily.

If you haven't given it a try lately the nerfs have made the content very manageable even with small groups. I am glad to see they haven't nerfed BA though.

I hadn't done it either but it was some of the best I've experienced so far!

Those raids are pretty neat and the story line that goes with it sure is excellent in my opinion. Queues are pretty short right now so if you're planning on doing it I would suggest sooner rather than later. Prior to patch the content was pretty dead and waits were terrible. The runs can be spotty relative to players running it given there are quite a few new players which can make the content a bit challenging at times.

Yeah it was. As one of the few very vocal about my love for Eureka (I blame my years in XI), I absolutely loved the people you met in there. You spent hours grinding in there so you were bound to either make some friends or enemies. I had a few friends who would join an eureka instance just to maximize the chat screen and wait for the drama. It was literally the highlight of her night.

As short as this started off this time around, the story seems to be great (which was something I was hoping eureka would get around to). And I really can’t wait to see where it goes. That little bit we got has me fully itching to see where it goes.

God I hope this version’s Eureka is something like us helping out around the no man’s land/war zone around Dalmasca.

Finished this up last night. I definitely took me longer than an hour. A little over 3.5 actually lol.

Granted, I move like molasses in mmos. I couldn't just read the cut scenes. I had to explore Gangos; see if there was a fishing hole there. I had to talk to everyone, and get a refresher on Bozja and the meteor project. It was probably about 2.5 hours before I even got to the solo instance.

I didn't do Eureka so I don't know how well the story was tied to those relic weapons, but this one was definitely different as far as NPC interaction and depth; tying together some of the previous stories, extending on the echo, introducing an imminent threat, and also giving us what I felt was a really awesome solo instance experience. In this regard, I feel the content is loaded.

As far as giving us something to do: not so much. As a lightweight introductory content filler. I feel like we should have got this earlier, and then the meat and potatoes came with patch 5.25. I'm not disappointed with this content though, and enjoyed it thoroughly. A short but sweet manner to start of a relic is the way to go imo, instead of doing something like ARR and HW and put players through a crazy grind just to complete the first step. This is especially true for players who are behind, and aren't doing the relic steps as they come with new patches.

I'm not going to say it isn't "grindy enough" though. It's really tough to evaluate that without completing the relic in its entirety. We will have to see what the next steps entail. But yes; a nice appetizer indeed, and now I am ready for the main course.

I'm a fan of how the story is starting out, I'm perfectly fine with the introductory step being short, simple, and to the point. It could have involved a bit more item collecting or content running and I probably would have been okay with that too, but I'm guessing that'll ramp up with the next steps.

But g'damn, some of the designs for the weaponry in this game... are just... awful.

I always harp on PLD swords being way too small, spindly, and wimpy, I think they're overcompensating after Curtana, but I'd love for them to be heftier and knightly. The proportions are so bad, and the cross guards are soooo damn busy and awful. The new shield is awesome, and the sword ALMOST gets it right, but it's just not there.

I liked the shovel swords for DRK comment on the first page. A lot of these need a redesign, and I'm hoping the upgraded versions look better. But I'm not holding my breath.

As far as the stats, I guess they're pretty decent, and 5 meldable slots really lets you cater to your playstyle even if not necessarily optimally depending on your base stats.

I'm going to be cautiously optimistic I guess.

Just finished getting my first one. Fairly easy and simple. Stage 1 should always be like this. The stages after should contain the actual "work" needed to be put in to strengthen the relic.
