As the title asks, why are we still forced into this toxic way of getting a house?! It happens all the same way. Plot gets opened up, people flock towards the plot, set themselves to busy, because GOD HELP YOU if you don't, because some little prick will trade request you to kick you out of the screen, WAIT FOR A RANDOM CHANCE TO SPLIT SECOND BUY THE PLOT, then listen to the players harass and berate you because they didnt get the plot.

WHY ARE WE STILL DOING THIS?! EVERY SINGLE TIME!! You need to do something about this, Square. This shouldn't be how housing is. You have PLENTY, PLENTY OF OPTIONS to handle this. Open more Wards, Make more Plots available, INSTANCE BASED HOUSING... SOMETHING TO GIVE EVERYONE A CHANCE TO BUY A GODDAMN HOUSE!!

The problem is that anyone has a chance to have a house when it wasn't intended to. Housing used to be the pinnacle of teamwork. Not so much anymore.

Change has to be planned, created and implemented. It can't happen overnight by someone snapping their fingers or waving a magic wand.

We already know that something will be coming later this expansion via the Firmament. As frustrating as it is right now, you need to remember that they are working on it.

In the meantime, make use of apartments and FC rooms to temporarily sate the desire to decorate. It's an opportunity to experiment with furniture combinations and placement so you're ready when you do finally get a house.

@Ryugami, while waiting you can also level crafter and gatherer jobs at the Firmament/Diadem, its very fast, then you will gain the skills to make your own furnishings to decorate your apartment/fc room, and you would have contributed to the ishgardian restoration effort.

I guess you people would rather have the timer off and then anyone who is first gets the house, not you. Instance isn't going to happen since the housing can't just change because you out of the very little population of last people getting a house wants so. Hard to believe someone being in the game for 3 years still doesn't have a house anyway.
