Discord won't detect Final Fantasy XIV

It's been a while since I updated this, apologies for that.

I don't beleive this is a Discord issue as, FFXIV is stil not displayed (even when one or both applications are ran as admin) also, FFXIV does not display correctly when I use 'Came Capture' in my streaming software, I have to select it through 'Window Capture'

Again, this is very confusing to me, as oonly myself and a handful of other people are having this issue.

Also doesn't show for me either, but it has previously months ago. I don't really use discord so I never really cared. I did try removing all the previously active listings of FFXIV in the game activity list, and then after try re-adding but there was nothing

This has been happening to me for a couple of months now.. I've kindof given up. I've tried googling everything, tried the administrator thing, nothing works.

Discord shows literally everything else i open as my Now Playing (Even photoshop..) But it doesnt acknowledge FFXIV at all for me.

Same here...I've pretty much given up trying to get the overlay to work or for it to display as the game I'm currently playing. My other friends status do change to "playing FF14" so I might just reinstall discord. But overlay not working for sure which sucks cuz I hate alt tabbing

It usually don't activate for me unless both the game and discord run in administrator mode.

It is a Discord issue, since FFXIV does not have any built-in support for Discord and is not responsible for Discord working correctly.

Time to clear some things up and add some to the staple:

It is an FFXIV issue.
I have an even higher issue than Tyverus. Even Windows won't detect FFXIV. It is only visible in the Taskmanager. Sound Manager? Nothing. Discord? Nothing.
Tried either and both as Admin.
Reinstalled both and nothing.

OBS? Detects only per Window Capture. Windows recording method do not even detect FFXIV in any way.

Discord is started with user permissions and can even hook to programs and games started with admin privileges.

Had this issue on 2 windows installation on 2 different pc's. One time i managed to fix it, but who knows if it was the Direct X packages from older games that fixed it or some windows update that broke it?

Square Enix is not very helpful on the matter either, a support ticket will be closed within a week of following the premade sheet of instructions on what to do, failing to actually address the issue.
Tho, with the new problem i found with even windows failing to detect ffxiv after two clean installs it may be worth a new shot.

If the problem was with FFXIV, no player's Discord would display when they were playing FFXIV. My Discord right now shows I am playing FFXIV. Clearly it is being detected.

Sounds more like there's some setting on some app on your computer that has been changed to block communication between FFXIV and Discord. SE can't be held responsible for that.

It is not a fault with FFXIV, since FFXIV is not designed to work with Discord. Square Enix is not responsible for getting FFXIV to work correctly with Discord, and if any change to FFXIV prevents Discord from finding FFXIV, that is not an issue the FFXIV developers are responsible for taking care of.

In short, getting Discord to work fine with FFXIV is 100% the responsibility of the Discord developers.

Happened to me recently as well.

I've always had the Streamlabs OBS issue -- you can only capture it via Window Capture (despite some other recording software treating it normally). Up until recently FFXIV showed up in Discord just fine -- but now it's nowhere to be seen in Discord no matter what I do.

I got in touch with the SLOBS team a long time ago about how FFXIV doesn't get detected normally and nothing they suggested works. I understand Square aren't keen (nor responsible) for compatability with external software but it is the one and only game/application than has always been awkward in that manner. I wouldn't mind the window-capture side of things, apart from the fact that it generally performs worse than Game Capture (FPS wise).

Software like Mirillis Action! can capture it fine but isn't as flexible as far as streaming goes.

Either way, just posting to say that others here aren't going insane. It's a common problem.
