The fact that the Gabranths are not "of Garlean blood" is shocking, here. We were told that sas is as high as it goes for them, HARD STOP. This is such a strange place to violate that standard, and makes it feel a little fan-fictiony. I'm holding out some hope Gabranth is still "pureblood/third-eye" but from a time before the Empire had united that "race" under the Garlean banner, or it's going to feel like this story just wanted to play with big toys and break rules to be special.
One oddity is that Noah van Gabranth, in all his appearances (back in the Ivalice raids and here), looks Garlean. As in, they use the Elezen skeleton (and emotes) that many Garlean NPCs use.

We can see this in the final stinger cutscene with him and Menenius rem Lanatus. They're the same height and standing pose (ie Elezen), and Menenius has the Elezen ear-pockets in his headgear.

So either Noah is pureblooded Garlean, or he's Elezen.

Hmm the whole no non pureblood garlean legatus in the empire is a muddled puddle, it could be possible that Landis fell before the empire was an empire and Basch got made a Legatus before that, but I think it would probably be more like Basch and his family were Garleans who went to work for Landis before being subjugated ( they were a constantly run down and driven away people afterall ) and once Landis fell Basch returned to the Garlean empire.

Then you could even chalk it up to Solus/ Emet to purposely put Basch in the position of Legatus to cause unrest and potentially even make the IVth legion the catalyst for the empire's collapse after he "dies" with no solid heir to the throne.

The future sight is weird technically we have it with aoe markers, but Mikoto's is quite something else, I also think this is the first time where being in the presence of another echo user gave us their ability, us gaining Mikoto's future sight briefly and Mikoto gaining our walking ability which is the reason we were even asked to go there for.

The future sight itself is eh, with it being random and unable to change what you see, this felt tacked on and unnecessary except to give Mikoto more uniqueness but her way of talking already made her standout so yea I don't know why future sight was needed at least at this stage.

As for the lady of blades could be Asura would actually be cool since Asura is rarely used in Final Fantasy, but other potential lady of blades could be Marilith, Paine(her unique dress sphere was blades central), Beatrix (unlikely but she was the greatest swordsman thus Lady of Blades as a moniker isn't too far fetched).

I'd be seriously shocked if it was anything but Asura considering the mural they showed in the final cutscene, plus there's the whole deal of the scheme being enacted by the IVth legion and what not.

And that is why I put no stock into headcanon and don't bother with it myself.

For Mikoto, I'm curious if her future sight Echo locks her into that path, and try as she might, she can't change things. As in, a person with the right type of Echo might be able to nudge the scales just with their presence. The example of her power that we've had so far was rather benign and nothing they'd be super worried about. We already know that Echos interact, and it was shown again with Mikoto's ability to join us in the memory dive. What if they're somehow able to share information through time by some strange interaction? What if she views the future of the WoL viewing the past and they are not only aware of it but can somehow communicate information?

Nah, I doubt they put that much thought into it.

I believe that the future sight is only showing her Absolute Futures rather than possible future.

Absolute Futures are always going to happen but what happens before and after are all Possible Futures so those aspect after the forseen events can be changed.

For example, if she was to see someone dying or die then it will happen but if the vision only shows the person for a short time dying or die then the moment after that forseen moment can have them be return back to life or their death is prevented since these are moment after the forseen absolute future events.

If anything, the issue being pressed will probably be resolved by a technicality.

We know the Republic of Garlemald was formed by consolidating a number of Garlean villages under one banner. There's nothing saying they got them all, which leaves the door open for some Garlean outliers not in the Empire (neé Republic) that could swear fealty upon being conquered. If that's the case it's plausible for there to be a pureblood Garlean Legatus who was not born in the Empire, and who passed his position down to his son upon death.

What information we have states only that one needs to be of Garlean ancestry to go past "sas," so...

Yep, the context of the vision is not clear. It's however interesting that the one case we've seen is a self-fulfilling prophecy. Seeing Cid in the vision causes us to seek out Cid so that the vision can become a reality.

That is the tricky thing about Absolute futures. They will happen no matter what but when and why is only the matter of the question. Even if WoL and Mikoto did not seek out Cid, some other events will cause Cid to eventually go there and experience that event another time and by another reason.

Thus by just causing the event directly, WoL and Mikoto will at least be directly prepared for it as they control when and why it happens.

It's probably either this or being half Garlean . In FF12 Noah's mother was Archadian, and when the empire of Archadia conquered Landis he went to them and swore loyalty, eventually becoming a Judge (equivalent to Garlemald's legati). I could see them doing the same thing here but swapping Archadia for Garlemald.
