Finding friends as new player

I started playing last weekend and I have done a couple dungeons with the duty finder. The biggest problem is that it's hard to meet people outside of those duty finder or party quests. Most people go their own way after finishing the dungeon. What are some ways to meet people in open world as a new player without friend requesting everyone?

Hi Celtic, there are a few ways that you can go about making friends in game:

1. Join the Novice chat if you are a new player! Shouting (/sh) in any major city to ask for an invite should get you one.
2. Join an FC and chat with the members.
3. Join outside communities like Discord servers.

I find that this is very world specific. On Mateus/Balmung I feel like I can just walk up and talk to anyone. Many social players on Crystal overall. But on Primal, not as much so and many people in Limsa are standing face to face, talking at each other.

I have very little experience with Aether but when I played on Sargantas, I remember being quite lonely, which is why I transferred out in the first place.
