Luna Moth Minion Memoriam

This isn't going to be a fun post, but I'm hoping it will be a meaningful one. If this is the wrong place for it, I would appreciate someone directing me more accurately, I couldn't find a place that seemed more appropriate. My wife and I would like to petition the FFXIV Dev team to put a luna moth minion into the game for players to equip and take around with them. Why will take some time to explain.

My wife and I met on this game (Final Fantasy XIV) over five years ago and we fell in love almost instantly. Within two weeks, I had moved a thousand miles to live with her and her daughter. I became a step father and we grew together. Almost two years ago, we got married and last year we conceived our little girl, Ivy.

She was born January 1st, our New Year's miracle and brought a brand new light to our lives. Our eldest daughter became a big sister and we marvelled at this perfect little being. She was so obsessed with lamps, staring at them with wonder, that we used to joke that we hoped someday she would find someone she loved and looked at with that level of adoration.

March 7th I awoke to find that she wasn't breathing. I woke my wife and we waited in impatient terror while the paramedics fought for her. The efforts they went to were exemplary, and they gave it their all, but our precious girl was gone. Our world has been shattered and we are trying to pick up the pieces and carry on for our eldest, getting ourselves out of the apartment where she passed.

Ivy was the culmination of our adventure together, from meeting in Eorzea, to starting a new life together. If I could wish anything for people to take from the beautiful, but short life of my daughter, Ivy Noelle, is to cherish every moment with the ones you love, for it is a precious and finite thing.

We reached out to friends and family for help, and the response from the greater FFXIV community blew our minds away. Dozens of people reached out offering support and love, and it made a huge difference in our wounded lives.

Now that we're trying to rebuild, we are thinking of ways to honor our little moth's memory. The first thought we had was something to honor her in-game. We're each fantasia-ing a character to represent her, to start. Mine is a viera named Ivy Moth, using the ears and coloration to resemble the luna moth we so closely associate with her, while my wife is designing a lalafell to look as close to her as possible as we speak.

But we realized something else that would be even more meaningful. We looked to find a minion, something we could take with us on all our future adventures in Eorzea. A way to have our little baby be a part of the story that originally brought us together in the first place forever. We found nothing. No minion at all. A few that are close, like Morpho and a couple of the winged angelic minions, but nothing that truly sang of our tiny little luna moth baby.

And so here we are, asking if the community agrees that such a minion is a worthy cause to champion. Luna moths are lovely, tragic creatures, and the idea of our little baby being able to join not only us on our continuing adventure through Eorzea but also everyone else, becoming a part of the very game that brought our family together in the first place... would be the most wonderful gift we can imagine.

We know this is asking a lot. Development takes time and money and a lack of C-19 delays, and we wouldn't even suggest such a thing if we weren't convinced a minion of a Luna Moth was a worthy addition to Final Fantasy XIV even aside from what it would mean to us personally. This game and this community have meant the world to us, so whether anyone reading this feels our cause is worthy or not, thank you from the bottom of our hearts for opening yours to us. May you all travel in light of the crystal (lamp) forever.

I'm so sorry for your loss. While I don't know if a minion could be added, I would fully support it and bring it with me everywhere. May you and your family find the strength to move forward despite the most difficult tragedy a parent could ever go through. Much love to you and yours in these times.

I am so truly sorry for your loss. This is every parent's greatest fear, and I can't imagine what you are going through right now. I love that she was already so curious about her world, and I hope you can always keep those special memories close to your heart.

Being a friend of you two, we brought this up during our monthly meeting. Hang in there I am fully okay with signing something to try and see if they will make a minion to represent Ivy.

I just wish my husband and me could have helped more.
