Thank you for the reply tiedmud.

If you have not tried it already, I'd suggest doing some of the following:

1) Disable any overlays you may have active (Steam overlay, Geforce Experience, etc.). Also close any unnecessary programs that may be open.

2) Try a clean boot. Simply open the task manager and select the 'Start up' tab. Disable everything here and restart the PC. This will make sure that no background processes are interfering with the game.

3) Turn off Fullscreen Optimizations by finding the "ffxiv_dx11.exe", right clicking it and selecting properties. Then under the compatibility tab there will be a check box labeled "Disable Full Screen Optimizations". Check it and click apply.

4) Try a reinstall of the game. When you do, make sure to remove the locally-saved data folder (located My Documents > My Games > Final Fantasy XIV). Be sure to make a backup of this just in case it doesn't resolve the issue.

I'm having the exact same issue.

1) Disabled overlays.
2) Reboot didn't help.
3) Turning off fullscreen optimizations didn't help. Starting in window mode doesn't help either.
4) Tried removing the data folder, but same issue. Haven't tried re-installing.

It fixed itself simply by trying to login later. My guess is that there is some kind of response the server sends that the client crashes upon receiving.
