    Suggestions(reading finalfantasyxiv.com & ideas)

    Hi to all!
    I thought about some things that Square Enix has released in the official web site (finalfantasyxiv.com not lodestone) but never released in the game.
    These things I believe would improve the atmosphere of the game.
    Now i will make a list of these things and also i add some ideas that I had:

    - The official website speaks of the Codex, a kind of bestiary that is a faithful guide for adventurers of Eorzea.
    In the game I have never seen a dialogue that talks about this codex, there isn't also a bestiary where you can see the monsters encountered and killed.
    I think it's nice to have a list of monsters encountered, maybe add an achievement for the bestiary and unlock pages to the mob's description like rewards for repeatedly killing the same mob (like in Final Fantasy XII).

    -The official website talks about a very important adventurer who drew for the first time the complete map of Eorzea.
    in this game I didn't hear anything about this story (or only rarely), it might be interesting to know more about this adventurer and do missions that unlock the maps to buy (and so approach to Final Fantasy XI).

    -The site also talks of many past ages in Eorzea, the game does not clearly explain these ages.

    - Eorzea should be uncharted territory where anything could surprise you.
    Currently it seems not only static but also a dead land but in the end with the 2.0 patch will change, I think.

    - With the advent of patch 2.0 could change the system of guildleves.
    I like to think guildleves in large numbers (almost like a trading card game) where the free companies, may possess different leves that give access to different places and dungeons inaccessible without them.
    The rarest leves (only a few companies possess) have as a reward drop to 100%, these leves are also exchangeable between leaders of companies. (Nice order them for rarity: common, uncommon, rare, very rare, ultra rare)

    - Add a trading card game like tetra master (FF8 & FF9)

    - Add a wanted system, which is different from faction leves (I don't like faction leves).
    The system of Final Fantasy XII would be perfect:
    look at the bulletin board, you accept the task, go to the client, kill the wanted (including the cutscenes), you get the reward and unlock stronger monsters in the bulletin board.

    - instead to answer one of poll questions, rather than enter races similar to those of Korean mmorpg, I recommend adding classes like banga or seeq, which would be nice to see how players and NPCs in the cities of Eorzea.

    Discuss please. ^^

    There is one that keeps track of all the NMs you kill. As well as an achievement of how many total mobs you killed. Not sure of the value of keeping trackof how many times I killed a Pug, so maybe that is lower on their list of 'things to do'.

    I *THINK* that this is actually mentioned, very subtley, at a certain point by a certain NPC. And is included as a sort of 'easter egg' to FFXI fans, as it is one of the few (only?) in-game references to FFXI that ties in lore-wise.

    However, all maps are available freely, so there is no plans at this time for that to be done.

    It is discussed in quests, and stories and books in the game. It is not made blatantly obvious. I think in order to reflect that, in-game, it is not even fully understood, recordered, or remembered. So vagueness may be intentional to keep it shrouded in mystery.

    Well, CLEARLY you did not wander around a corner filled with level 20 mobs and run straight into a level 99 Gobbue that hits you for 9999 damage ^.^;;
    That was a surprise....

    Otherwise not sure what you mean by 'unchartted territory'. The inhabitants have been living there for quite some time, so it is pretty well known.

    You can get Grand Company leves that let you do little missions (like normal leves) but also reward GC Seals. Presently the leves really are nothing more than a 'mission' process. Right now they have nothing really to do with trading cards, or cards in general.

    Not sure where you are going with this... this does not sound like the leves that are implemented in game now. Perhaps you are want an additional system to the leves, rather than a change.

    Yes, tripple-triad would be nice!

    Sound a lot like Faction Leves. Asside from getting it from a 'board' to the left of the NPC, the NPC presents you a 'board' with 1-3 leves on it. What is different that you are looking for?

    I am not sure what you are saying here, perhaps because I could never get the poll to work. Are you suggesting we should have more races, such as NPC/Mob races? I would be worried about being a Dodo or Beastman and having someone come attack me ; ;

    I mean a full bestiary, where all the mobs are registered, a list with all the enemies killed, choosing a mob appears his description with detailed data.
    For example, the description appears when you kill a monster once, while after you killed the same monster for five times the codex will automaticaly update with the monster's HP, MP and other info.

    indeed i'm suggesting to change all free maps with buyable maps or drawing them from yourself.
    Also is interesting do some quest to unlock the buyable maps.

    For "where anything could surprise you" i mean that you can see strange things or while you are walking you can meet special events or traps for example.
    Indeed Cutter's Cry traps surprised me.

    Also the official website speaks about Eorzea like an uncharted land.

    I'm suggesting to replace the current leves system with simple repeatable quests and implement the new system that i wrote above with the current leve's graphic and story.
    Read here for the levequest story:

    The bulletin board shows all wanted monsters unlocked, also the current system doesn't look like a real wanted system but another type of levequest.
    For me the wanted system of FFXII is perfect for this game.
    Add restrictions like level, company rank and other can be interesting.

    In the latest poll Square Enix asked which new playable races we want in Final Fantasy XIV, i'm suggesting races similar to banga and seeq.

    I'd love to see Bangaa and Seeq. They've only been playable in the Tactics games so far, and it would be great to have some racial diversity.

    You seem to want a very different game ^.^;

    If I did not know better I would think you were looking for a combination of FFXII and FFVIII in a Console format. I'm not suggesting there is anything bad with your ideas.. .but it really suggests quite a change.

    Problem with Bestiary: Traditionally the stats of monsters are kept 'secret' FFXI (and thus I presume will be the same here). Also, they can change and be tweaked. Also, since it's multiplayer, you do not need to defeat the monster x amount of times to find out its stats. It will be done by someone else 10 minutes after the monster first appears in the land and be posted on a web site. This also might be something that can be handled well by fan sites.

    Maps: That is a complete opposite of what we have here. There are some discussions on it. Some people think there should be no maps. Some that you can buy. Some that you auto get. It sounds like you are of the variety that likes the very old D&D type games where you have to do the maps yourself. Personally, I'm the complete opposite. If they make it so I can buy the map for 500 gil from an NPC vendor, then I have no issue. If I have to draw it, then that's probably going to be a game-breaker for me.

    Regarding uncharted land: The link you gave me did not work. There may well be parts of Eorzea that are uncharted, but the vast majority of the land that we can now get to has been well travelled. Sounds like you may of stumbled upon a suggestion of lore that is not actually in game yet. As for surprises... well, that can be hard to do without being annoying yet still being interesting. What surprises you might be different than what suprises me. I'm sure there will be a lot of rage quitting if suddenly traps appear along a route you've been a hundred times, when you are trying to get somewhere for a party and end up dying or getting teleported back.

    As for just seeing strange things... well, I see weird people riding on a Gobbue.. that's strange enough for me ^.^;;

    Levequest: Still do not understand where you are going here.. you want to change it to something else then introduce something that is the same as Levequest... would it not be simpler to leave levequests as they are and then introduce something else entirely? I understand there was originally some concept behind Levequests giving you 'leave' to go and do a mission for someone in an area you could not normally go to. That seemed to never have made it into the game. Probably best to just leave it be. (No pun intended). I would not be surprised if this whole concept was removed in 2.0. Does not seem to be a very good mechanic in my opinion.

    Either way, it is great that you are comming up with ideas and suggestions on how to improve the game or otherwise make the game more enjoyable for everyone. My only teeniest suggestion would be to not borrow too heavily from other games. If FFXIV borrows too many mechanics from other games, it does not leave enough opportunities to try and come up with some new mechanics on it on (that may even be better).

    These changes require a long time but i don't want everything at once(After 2.0 it's well).

    Bestiary: HP and MP info are an example, can be other info.

    Maps: in FFXI you can buy the little maps for 500/1000 gil for bigger maps the price increases, but you can decide to write your maps.

    Regarding uncharted land: the traps are only in fixed areas and they can reduce HP, MP or increase HP and MP and other(like in FFXII).
    Teleport traps are good only in a dungeon, out of the dungeon are boring and frustrating.

    Levequest: The original concept and graphic is too wonderful to become useless.

    I'm suggesting some old FF's mechanics that i consider good, but the game can only improve from this point.
    These mechanics are not very invasive and would not change radically the gameplay, but would add only good contents. ^^

    I'd like a full bestiary as well as Bangaa and Seeq, and a card game.

    I've actually always wondered about the absence of the Codex as well xD I'm not so sure about actually being able to fight the monsters, but having a list that you could consult would be interesting.

    More than anything else, really, I completely agree with you on the maps. Just like XI worked, you could have the main cities mapped out already, maybe the beginning areas included, for free. Then mid-high areas available for purchase, and endgame/very high level areas would either have to be drawn or maps only available through quests.
