Mogstation taking another step to the darkside

Man... if OP thinks the completely noninvasive and separate cash shop that is Mog Station to be bad, they shouldn't check out any other MMO on the market right now. This game is so non predatory with its cash shop and I feel like people take that for granted. Play BDO, Tera, or any other recent MMO and notice how much more predatory those are. Heck, BDO has items in their cash shop that actually affects your character stats to an extent. So just think about that when you look at this cash shop that isn't even directly even in the game. Y'all need to stop crying.

The “what if” scenarios put forth are nonsensical. For as long as the Mogstation shop has been around it has only been cosmetics stuff with exception to the jump potions/story skip stuff. While it might seem shadey to release the spriggan mount when they did, it’s honestly good business to put out a product when you know it will sell.

There is no crossing lines or doom and gloom about no longer releasing armor, etc. they released a mount, which is a pretty regular thing to do.

Just saw the mount in Mogstation and can understand what OP is pointing out. There's an egg hanging from its side and is carrying a basket. I don't know about the rest of you but sure looks like SE is trying to test us to see if a good number of us will buy that obvious seasonal looking mount or not instead of just doing the event and unlocking it.

And yes, I know the mount isn't part of the event, but it's still very suspicious how it looks like it should be a part of the current seasonal event.

It doesn't carry an egg, though. It's a gem. A stone. So no, it's not a seasonal mount. Maaaaaaaybe it was intended to be one, but we could never know that for sure.

As for the timing - Hatching event associates with Spriggans among players and in its story, so right now is just the best time to implement it from "when we can get the best sales from it" standpoint.

As the others said already, it's a gemstone, and I'm fairly sure all normal spriggans have some kind or rock or gem either on a belt in the same position, or carry it there.

The timing is fishy... Spriggans have been part of the Hatching Tide before so this mount could have been an event item. However, we are getting a male Viera bunny glamour so it's not like the event was stripped bare of rewards.

Yeah, that's the extra-odd thing about it. If we had dud in-game rewards (e.g. recycled models) it would be more suspicious that a could-be-event mount seems to have been switched out to the cash shop, but instead the mount is essentially a recycled model while we get something totally unique as an event reward. Horrendous, but unique.

Want to support Square Enix even further? Then consider buying their optional items! You get rewards, such as mounts, for doing so.

Again, it is entirely optional and avoidable. The fallacy of "must have it, I pay my sub" is just completionism.

Whether a price is 'high' or not is entirely subjective in the first place. Many of the players with a disposable income, who such items are marketed towards, aren't inconvenienced in the slightest by the current pricing. Those who are can potentially put money aside and save up over time in order to afford a particular item. They'll miss out on getting it right away, though if they really want something then waiting a while should be acceptable.
