Haha nah it's alright. I think if it were meant to be, we would've been drawn to each other anyhow. :3

Thanks to the lack of PM functions on the forum it's a bit difficult to reach out to someone you only know via forum. I generally have no trouble approaching people but making a char on their server and trying to catch them online or explicitly adressing them in a public forum post would feel too stalkerish even for me. So while I have my fair share of people I find really likeable from their forum posts alone and think it would be a lot of fun to some content with them I doubt I'll ever have the balls to reach out to them.
Said person might have thought the same. I see plenty of people interacting on the forum and discussions turning more into a dialogue between two people but you can tell that it never goes past that. I think unless you're already on the same server (or at the very least same data centre) there's this weird unspoken line people don't want to cross.

It's rare but not impossible to cross that unspoken. My first love, thereby the first time I fell in love was from someone I had a thing for on a forum(Perfect World) and would go on to be the first person I met in person from the internet. We dated etc, life would have it that it didnt last. Fast forward 11yrs later, this would happen again (not a gaming forum but still a forum) and we end up together and married for 3yrs. All that really needs to happen is form a deep bond with the person and communication is a big doorway for it, and it's even stronger in an evironment where communication is at totally and soley at the for front.

Indeed it's harder in FFXIV because DC/time zone division and well these forums where we're walled off, but perhaps that's for the best.
