Only thing I can think of is way back when I started really playing this game, sometime around the end of ARR and before start of HW. Having come from both FFXI and WoW, I was under the impression I wasn't supposed to actually do damage. I was used to the way the other MMO's did it. Huge, continuous spike damage would happen and MP was always tight so I wasn't supposed to waste it trying to do loldamage and risking someone got spiked to death. Cleric Stance? Clearly to help me get through the solo quest content that I have to go through. It cripples my healing, so what else would it possibly be used for? I was new and so while I noticed mobs weren't dunking people, I didn't know what mobs could do, so I always assumed that any new mob could possibly dunk the party. This mindset got solidified when I ran a Haukke Manor Hard and the tank was pulling everything he possibly could forcing me almost Oom to keep him alive, so I never cast a single damage spell inside of a dungeon. The thing is, *nobody* ever bothered to correct me. It wasn't until I was doing a HW Expert Roulette in the Antitower and some tank decided he wasn't going to put up with me not casting damage spells, and I was SO confused by this. Now I'm like everyone else, if I'm healing, I'm casting Broil if I'm not hitting OGCDs. Wish someone would've bothered to tell me I was being bad earlier then Antitower. It's so shameful to think about, heh.
