I've done the opposite. I have Shield Samba and Closed position in the same spot in different hotbars, So I went to use Samba and then my static pointed out I didn't have a partner lolAs a dancer main, I had shield samba and closed position right next to each other. They are a similar color and I wasn't really paying attention, clicked on my fellow dps, hit the button and off we went, only to be asked after the first pull why I hadn't partnered anyone. I said 'But I di..... oh...." when I noticed samba was on cooldown. I apologized profusely as I partnered up, blushing a bit irl and laughing at myself.
After the machinist update in ShB, I didn't check my skill list properly as I just expected all the new stuff to be automatically added to my hotbars, so I ended up playing and leveling machinist for the longest time without ever using Hypercharge. Then one roulette I saw another machinist use Auto Crossbow and was all "HOW?!" and went on a frantic skill search after dungeon.
I started back when Leviathan was fresh out and I got Smn to level 50 before doing Brayflox Longstep dungeon due to wanting max grand company rank which means I entered both Dzemeal Dark hold and Aurum Vale with no Garuda-Egi back when Garuda-Egi was defacto best pet due to contagion. Sorry to those groups (actually thanks to Aurum Vale group i'm so comfortable in df now just for how friendly they were so now I treat any df instance as they treated me) for that oh and took 3 days after joining an fc to learn how to switch chat channels and it was pure luck due to a df encounter that taught me to go from say to party and I notice fc chat XD.

I sometimes give out the wrong info to sprouts by accident in NN and feel really embarrassed about it afterwards, due to quest locations changing between expansions.
For example, someone asked where to go to learn how to use glamour prisms, and I said there was a quest for it in MorDhona at lvl 50 (because that’s where it was when I did it back in ARR). Turns out they had changed it, and made it possible to get in Vespa Bay instead, and I didn’t know. Was told by a lot of other mentors that day to just leave NN and to stop being a mentor because of it. :< my bad, sprouts.
I still feel pretty embarrassed about it.

Good, you should get out of NN anyway. It's so bad. The mentors in there are so bad and I cringe every time I see it. Most the Mentors in there haven't cleared any content and all the tips they give are for 'undersized' content. It was always funny getting paired with these same people in Mentor roulettes and then when sprouts ask them questions they haven't a clue on how mechanics or other jobs work.
There will be times when they are trying to explain an extreme fight and you realize all of the information they are giving is completely incorrect so you sit there laughing as they continually wipe.

Late-night NN isn't so bad, there's more, uh... How should I put it.. "Stable" people on at that time.
I avoid talking in NN during peak hours, because you get some people who want to make an argument over everything. You get to see more (somewhat entertaining) kick-fests, though

I know almost all of them but I still don't know a single name from Samurai. Why they used Japanese names in a world wide game is beyond me.
Veteran healers don't care if we need to heal, but right now we don't. We want interesting things to do during the downtime other than a 30s dot and a single filler spell that hasn't changed from lvl 4 to lvl 90.
Dead DPS do no DPS. Raised DPS do 25/50% lower DPS. Do the mechanics and don't stand in bad stuff.
Other games expect basic competence, FFXIV is pleasantly surprised by it. Other games have toxic elitism. FFXIV has toxic casualism.[/LIST]

The name of the job itself is Japanese. It is also mandatory to shout, "Shi'ne!" when using Hissastsu: Senei, or Doom of the Living as a finisher.
Anywho, one of my confessions is I totally killed a player with Rescue. Fact of the matter was I needed another peep to survive a stack marker, and the player I used 'universal pull' on didn't have enough health to survive anything. Pretty cold-blooded, but survival of the fittest I suppose. For the Naruto fans out there, this is what I would call a "Sasuke".
Once in Nier alliance I was a healer, with two friends. One was a dps and the other one was a scholar. We had a tank in our party that was completely ignoring everyone\\'s tips and killing half of the party with the tank stack. (Engels
/Goliath fight) it happen multiple times. Everyone was kind enough to explain but the tank said they didn\\'t care.
My friend told me to kill the tank and he will rez me (on discord). So during the transition to the second phase when he throws you on the second platform, I jumped down and rescued him. He was baffled and was asking "what killed me?" Most of the party knew what happen but they never told him the truth. "Oh you stood too close to the edge." "You must of walked off." I was like "oh now how did we did"
He stayed quiet the whole fight and never killed any of us again. It was amusing.
