It took me five years to notice the bulkheads in the Praetorium were "Cermet" and not "Cement"

It's not surprising, it's not a well known word, although it appeared also in FFXI frequently. What is surprising is that it's actually a real-world material.

Another embarrasing confession of mine: when I started levelling MRD/WAR I went for ages without Overpower in my hotbar, including dungeon runs that naturally I struggled to keep hate in. Not surprisingly, people kept telling me to "use OP!" and I just looked at them blankly wondering what the hell they were talking about. Turns out until that point every time a new ability was learned it automatically appeared in the hotbar, except Overpower. Sheepishly I manually added it into the hotbar and from then on things naturally improved. I felt like such a n00b.

I started playing in 1.XX and it was similar to FFXI, which I had played for years before. I quit 1.XX cause neither my desktop nor laptop at the time could run it. Desktop couldn't run it at all (AMD Athlon 2800+, Geforce 7600GS AGP, 1GB DDR1 RAM), and laptop couldn't run for more than 10 minutes before overheating (I got to level 6 lol).

2.0 comes round, and some friends I played FFXI with join cause they knew 2.0 will be good. We continued to play FFXIV like FFXI until level 28ish when a friend one of the others made did Haukke Manor with us and was like "wtf are you guys doing". We were a gladiator, archer (me), and thaumaturge. Thaumaturge was sleeping everything cause things got pulled in groups. Tank was focusing one at a time (not flashing or anything), and I was trying to kite things that woke up... Yeah lol.

I didn’t properly use my SAM aoe rotation until the middle of stormblood so I’d just spam Oka and Mangetsu instead of using Fuga first. Also didn’t know SAM had a Dot until Lv60s

Oh! And I thought wildfire was a dot and didn’t learn what it was until I noticed the damage was really small and read the skills.

I've managed to fall off of basically every ledge possible in duties, maybe barring a few outliers in newer content. The most stand-out example was the first time I ran Bismark for MSQ, I got blasted off the ledge by one of the adds less than 10 seconds into the fight. As a tank. It didn't help that some idiot accused me of jumping off deliberately and told the party to report me for griefing.

I've also triggered Superbolide at the start of duties by accident if I've been playing a lot of SMN beforehand, because I keep Summon III on the same keybind as my tank invulns. I should probably change that, but I'm too used to my setup to change it.

I changed my character's gender a few weeks ago because I was just tired of seeing most glamours being modeled for the female physique, playing a male Highlander Hyur it was tough finding a good look so I've stuck with DPS/Tank roles. No regrets. Been a male Highlander since I first started ARR.

I don't see how that's an embarrassing confession. Just because you switched to a girl? I don't necessarily think most armors are actually modeled for the female physique, but rather it being a conscious design decision from a Japanese developer. The gear is meant for males, it's just kind of feminine or androgynous. It's the style. Personally, I wouldn't mind some more masculine western styled sets though in-game. That's for sure.

An embarrassing confession would be me continuously spending hundreds of dollars on fantasias just to have different animation, a different look, or simply a racial outfit piece.

Though maybe I see where you are coming from now after reading your character's first name.

On the other hand, if you prefer feminine characters and gear you're usually out of luck ( especially nowadays ).
I appreciate that FFXIV and the Final Fantasy series just in general tbh is a bit more skewed towards the feminine. Even the male characters tend to not be the typical gruff '' manly man '' like you normally see in Western games.
I mean the male characters in FF15 look like they're male models or in a boy band xD, pretty much every male character in FF does.
It's obviously not for everyone, but at the same time I do find it a bit silly when people complain about it because people who prefer the typical stuff are basically catered to in like 95% of all games ( not saying you are complaining, but there are people who just refuse to play anything with any hint of femininity in it and believe that if a female character is to be regarded as '' strong '' she just needs to have masculinity slapped unto her... ).

It's why I have a hard time playing most Western games, it's like they design it for the male characters first as a default and just slap it unto the female characters.
And there's just this general mentality that '' femininty = weakness '' as if ( for the sake of the argument ) dying your armor pink somehow gives you a minus stat in strength or something lol. But oh, dye it black and you get +9000 in strength.
Fashion and even armor has never at any point of history been gender neutral, I often hear that about historical armor but people are generally quite ignorant about history and the mindsets of the times. Armor was considered as male clothing and was always designed to express the masculine trends of the times aesthetically. The few times women wore it they just wore the same because it was the developed standard and blacksmiths weren't going to redesign it for a single exception and war was just regarded as a masculine profession.
At one point breastplates were even shaped like corsets because having a narrow waist was regarded as super masculine, but nowadays it's a wider frame and wide shoulders so that's how they tend to be designed.
So it kinda bothers me when people treat historical armor like it's gender neutral when it just objectively isn't and was never intended to be lol.
People back in the day would laugh if people made that claim.

I am currently using '' Ivalician holy knight's armor '' as a mog on my tanks and I like it a lot, and it's clearly designed to look more feminine.
I just really appreciate that the devs do this and it's a pretty big reason why I play FFXIV and not WoW.
And I also think that it's why JRPG's as far as I know at least is the most popular genre amongst women after mobile games ( remember seeing some statistics of this way back ).
It's just kinda annoying to me how in games and in general really the masculine is treated and viewed as the default and the feminine as '' the other ''.

Is there a single Gunbreaker who haven't triggered Superbolide on accident xD?
I always feel like every Gunbreaker I am in a dungeon with will trigger it by accident at one point in the dungeon lol.

Not judging, it happens to me sometimes too.
It's just funny because of how much more dramatic it is than with other tanks.

Unless you were some officer, or important individual you were wearing and using mass produced arms and armor - which again comes to men being the overwhelming majority of fighters throughout history.. Not that I am claiming to be some historical expert..

I play with a gamepad. My mistakes when healing are beyond my ability to count. Except on Astrologian, oddly.
