Why am I level 54 and still have no defensive cd's?!

New player with my FIRST complain about this game: I'm a level 54 dps and have no defensive cool downs, if I have to fight 2+ mobs, I DIE! And don't tell me to get good, I do my rotation, I do damage, but the mobs kill me before I kill them because it's too much damage and there's nothing I can do.

SECOND complain: no corpse run.

I'm losing interest, pretty fast.

Now flame me all you want, do your worst.

Edit: I just checked your lodestone, you have good gear. So get your Chocobo Companion and set it as a Healer.

BTW Dragoon is a DPS job not a tank, so don't mob.

If you are still dying it's because you are either not dodging stuff properly or not pressing your buttons correctly.

You shouldn't really be trying to fight multiple enemies in the overworld, especially without backup from your chocobo. (You don't need it in healer stance particularly, as long as you level up its healer skills - I leave mine in free stance. If it helps you kill things faster, that's also a damage reduction in the long run.)

If you're outnumbered and struggling, you can run away - enemies will only chase you so far.

Also, are you setting role skills? They're in a separate menu to your job skills and include support and HP-regain skills.

You have Bloodbath, Feint, Second Wind, Arm's Length and Leg Sweep. Are you using those? They're pretty good.

OP you may not have as many defensive skills as you want in-game, but you sure are defensive irl. You don't need to follow up each statement with "go ahead and flame me" or "don't tell me to get good".

Depends on which dps class you are playing
If it's a caster for example, black mage has Mana ward which gives you 30% shield of your maximum HP
If you're playing a melee dps, you need to check your role actions. Each type of class, dps, heal, tanks have role actions. Bloodbath restores your HP when dealing damage to an enemy. Second wind restores your HP at a base potency. If you're playing a physical range dps, you only have second wind but you also have slows, ensnares, stun at your disposal to help your survival. We're not here to flame you. Also corpse running sounds like a hassle. You can pretty much mount and get to where you need to go pretty quickly.
Noticing your class on your profile, you are a melee dps. Which means blood bath, second wind, are in your role actions. Click and drag them to your hot bar. This should help quite a bit. Take care

As a level 54 Dragoon, you have:

Life Surge - Level 6
Second Wind - Level 8
Leg Sweep - Level 10
Bloodbath - Level 12
Feint - Level 22
Arm's Length - Level 32
Spineshatter Dive - Level 45

As well as Piercing Talon (Level 15) in order to pull mobs so you don't fight close to other ones that can make you end up fighting multiple targets at once.

That's a few more than no defensive CD's last I checked.
