Give us back our options! Why would you do this?

I don't understand why so many recipes weren't updated. They still make Dated versions of things using those horribly complex old recipes.

It's really bothering me that I have only a few pieces of gear to choose from between 1-20 (and compared to pre-recipe overhaul, it's 1-50). Where are the cowls, the shirts, robes, half-robes, pants, gloves!?

When I first started playing FFXIV last year, something I really admired was the diversity of clothing available for the same level range. Coming from World of Warcraft, where you wear whatever has the best stats (it's usually an ugly yellow thing, too), this was an amazing and new kind of equipment system! I could wear a robe, or a shirt, or even a doublet. The melee classes had access to heavier gear like bone scale armor (one of my favorites) and armored gauntlets.

Why is this gone now? Instead of updating Dated recipes, 70% of my options are simply gone. Yes, I can always wear Dated gear, but since no one makes it any more and vendors don't sell it, I'd have to level the necessary professions just to craft each piece.

I, personally, like to see my items all become spiritbound. And when they're done, I swap them out for new gear to bind. But it's really bland to just keep swapping one hempen acton out for a fresh one every few levels.

My latest piece of gear is a Shepherd's Tunic. However, like most of the upgrades for my clothing, it boosts stats for DoL and DoH. Seriously, the only decent attire I have is that damned Hempen Acton that I am so sick of looking at. I can't even have a SHIRT until after level 20.

Am I the only one that gets bored when my character looks the same for ten levels at a time?

10 levels is about an hour on average. not much time to look the same. and i say on average because it seems 95% percent of people just pl them.

I guess I'll just never understand that mindset. 10 levels takes days for me. Grinding is boring and totally crushes my spirit. Powerleveling is something I'll never do.

If I'm the only one that thinks like this, then that explains why SE can just make these kind of changes and no one minds.

    It's the sad truth.

I hate power levelling it causes so many problems. most notably the lack of demand for low level gear on the markets. if there was demand i'd sell low level equipment all day long but when you can go 1-40 in 8 hours then there's next to no demand for anything lower.

another reason i hate it is because so many people suck at there jobs. number of times people fail at things cos they can't play there jobs properly it's crazy. but thats not realated to your original subject

back to topic, i think the problem is you dont find enough gear in market wards be cause crafter dont produce low level gear.
Since most people either have most crafts on max they do the gear themselves but most of them dont even need to do that lol since most battle classes are on max too ...
    new player have it tough
making low leve gear isnt even profitable since its not stackable, cant put high price on coz new player dont have much gil and high level player dont need to buy it so its taking a long time to sell

Yeah, I hear you on the powerleveling not producing quality players. At least I know that when I hit 50 I'll be a master at my class.

It's a shame that there's no market for gear at lower than around level 30. I remember it used to be, since people made cowls and stuff to level crafting professions.

You know this game has been out for over a year and a half, right? With not much in the way of end-game content, and little to do besides level other classes? People who've been playing since the game came out can have all-50s or mostly-50s (only referring to DoW/M) relatively easy by this point. I'm not sure why powerleveling is even being discussed right now.

On-topic, however, I completely agree with the OP. My wife loves the half-robes, yet they're all but gone from the game now.

I think they really need to close the huge gaps in equipment for DoH and DoL. As well. My classes have to dated gear sometimes because they're stuck in level where nothing is optimal in the new recipes.

BUT for DoW/DoM they have dungeon or LNM drops that might be good?

because powerlevelling is a major factor of why low level equipment never gets made or sold. which in turn is the ops point.
