They've been taking to impersonating both popular Twitch streamers and Youtubers as of late, so I can sort of understand why some people fall for it.
The problem is that regardless of how they're trying to scam people, they'll require you to input your log-in info at some point, which is entirely unneeded for whatever it is they're asking of you (Generally referring you to what's supposedly a post on the official forums, which CAN be viewed without being logged in).
But dude! There are hot Russian girls in my area that want to meet me and they need my credit card details!
In all seriousness, as many have said, you'd be surprised by what people fall for. I had a friends family member who bricked thier computer by following an email link telling them they had won an Iphone.

Letter from the Producer LIVE Part IX Q&A Summary (10/30/2013)
Q: Will there be any maintenance fees or other costs for housing, besides the cost of the land and house?
A: In older MMOs, such as Ultima Online, there was a house maintenance fee you had to pay weekly, but in FFXIV: ARR we decided against this system. Similarly, these older MMOs also had a system where your house would break down if you didn’t log in after a while in order to have you continue your subscription, but this is a thing of the past and we won't have any system like that.
You ever hear of kitboga? He baits scammers, and despite how utterly ridiculous it may seem that people would fall for their tricks- people do. And millions of USD have gone to India because of it.
Greedy kids, people who are new to MMOs and those who honestly have little to no sense will continue to fall for the false givaways.
Sadly people can be gullible, sometimes it's kids too who can be more easily fooled...i was tricked in Runescape when I was 13 lol not to give up my account details but to lend valuable loot...I felt like such a dumbass. But I guess less critical thinking at that age and if it sounds legit, then is probably legit in your mind.
And heck if anything I find people rarely question things. Particularly if the case is convincing. Sadly not everybody so savvy on the approaches scammers make.
But with the drunk scenario, that's unfortunate lol. When I'm drunk, I get my cohealer drunk and we unleash ourself into raids. Once carried a World of Darkness alliance when the other party's healers were dying, despite being off out faces.
But I don't even have even THAT excuse for my FC screw up, I was clearing out old inactive players once and ended up in autopilot mode and accidentally made one of them the FC leader. Luckily the patch that followed added the feature to take FC leader from an inactive player after a certain number of days to the oldest active one and that's how I got my leadership back.
Ever since I've left it to my officers to do, if they screw up, it's less of a problem lol and it's apparent that I cannot be trusted and am not a responsible adult.
