    FFXIV blew my graphics card.

Just wanted to put this up as a warning to people who use a nvidia 9800 gt to not play this game. I played for 4 days and tried my best to get the game to work on my pc and ended up destroying the card in the process.

Goes without saying im not coming back.

Dont really care if you think i did something wrong or whatever, this card is above min spec requirements and should have worked fine.

I played with a 9600M GT for months, which is far less powerful then yours. Ran fine?

I played this game from Alpha to 1.0 launch using a 9800GT. Something is wrong with your computer, not the game.

I have a 580gtx, and i can't play this game unless i use EVGA precision software to max out the fan.. if i don't, it causes my computer to reboot. no other games do this.

as with any cards overheating is an issue.. if you do not attach a new fan to it.. you can wait for it to blow sooner or later.. any cards that run above 80C will sooner or later fail.
yes i am aware that cards can handle 100 C+ but not for long and not continously
Get yourself a fan of a good brand and attach it the the card , standard fans just do not do their job.
Myself i attached a zalman fan and it lowered the heat of the card with 50C to a stable 49C to a max of 58C.
Its easy to do and usely it comes with a manual on how to attach it.

I ran this game on an 8800GT from open beta until just this past Christmas 3 months ago and it never broke my card. I never even had any heat related game crashes. The only time my game ever crashed on that card was when everyone was having a crash issue after an update or when my internet as a whole was running slow and I attributed it to that.

What settings did you have the game on? If you were maxing out the game on this card then, yes, you probably were crashing due to that. I know you said "this card is above min spec requirements" but min spec means just that: It will run the game but not capped out. The Square Enix RECOMMENDED card for this game is a GTX 460 which is a considerably higher spec'd card than you have. I bought a GTX 560 at christmas which is supposed to be a little better than the GTX 460 and I still can't max the game out and keep temps & FPS where I like them.

But I suppose you won't ever read this since "Dont really care if you think i did something wrong or whatever" in which case we are all wasting our time trying to help you which is usually the reason for posting your problems
