Recommendations for fish prints, please! :)

    Hello,

I'm currently redecorating my house and I'm going for a general "museum"-theme - part of it is going to be an underwater-exihibt, which will not only include a few fishtanks (obviously) but where I wanted to make use of the new Anglers Canvases!

However there are way to many fish in this game and way to many not-to-great looking prints... but I'm sure there must be real pearls amongst them! I'd welcome any suggestions for good looking fish prints - the size of the canvas doesnt matter to much, I can make pretty much anything work with my current set up.

    Thanks in advance!

Firstly: I would recommend just skipping the extra-large frames. There are like, maybe 5 fish you can display on them, and the quality is sort of not the best with the image scaled up to that size, in my opinion.
Second: Ocean fishing is an amazing way to get a variety of fish to try out in the frames. The green quality fish seem to have a different paper type in the frames themselves, so that might factor into which you want to use.
Third: This is another opinion, but I think the shells are some of the better looking images. They tend to go on smaller frames, but that leads to a sharper image.
Fourth: Sea horses display at a weird sideways angle. Works with the leafy sort of seahorse image, less so with the basic seahorse image. (again, sort of an opinion, but it does bug me a little.)
Fifth: If you have fishing unlocked, you can look through your fishing guide to view what some of the images are going to look like(at least with fish you have caught), which can also give you an idea of what fish you want to aim for.
Six: I have yet to find a list of which fish go into which frames, so a lot of that comes down to very tedious searching through logs or the MB just checking every single fish for what size frame it fits into.

Here are most of the ones I have displayed in my alt's apartment. (Mateus: Mists, Ward 17(Sub), room 53.)
Small frames: Sunfly | Marine bomb

Small | Medium: Wentletrap | Aronnax You can see the difference in the canvas type, the aronnax is a green quality fish.

Small frame: Spectral Sea Bo(green quality)An example of the weird sideways seahorse.

    Large frame: Gladius

    Medium frame: Charlatan Survivor(green quality)

    Large frame: Chrome Hammerhead

    Large frame: Megasquid

Small | Medium | Small: La Noscean Jelly | Leafy Seadragon | Ruby Sea Star

Small | Medium | Small: Lover's Flower | Monke Onke | Bartholomew the Chopper(green quality)

    Extra Large frame: Gigant Octopus

Extra Large frame: Liopleurodon I think this one really shows how blurry the images get when stretched onto the bigger canvases.

    Small frame: Bashful Batfish

Medium | Small | Medium: Tripod fish | Merlthor Butterfly | Axolotl

There are a couple I didn't post simply because they don't look all that great, or are kind of boring in my opinion.

Thanks! I'll have a closer look later, but wanted to adress a few points already!
First I agree with your assessment of shells and seahorse - more or less decided to display mainly shells at this point and skip seahorses alltogether.
Secondly I do have fishing unlocked - got my fisher to 80 months ago - but my fishing log is... less than complete. And even then its so, so... full. How many fish are there? 800 or something? I recently calculated and its way to many... and to adress your sixth point: All. Fish. Go. Into. Frames. All of them. Which makes it even more sad that most of them dont look so great...

As for what's best, I think that's subjective. I know some people like the scary looking fish over the types you'd normally find in a home aquarium. The plecos (Five-Ilm is small, rest are medium) have a nice look in my opinion. Some of the shark are well sketched. I also like the look of the Judgeray. If you want some bizarre specimens, Skyfish and some of the others from sky/cloud fishing have some unique shapes.

I like that they made it so all fish went into frames, my biggest struggle is that there is no easy way to sort out which fish go into which size of frame. It's so maddening!
You'll have to share some screenshots once you get the ones you like up on display, I'd love to see what you put together!

As per your request I took screenshots of all the small fishprints I ended up using! I tried the medium ones, but in the end they didnt made the cut - images got blurry already and the frames themself just didnt look all that fitting in the space I wanted to use them in. I ended up using more than I thought I would aswell... anways, since sharing seemed easiest via a lodestone-blogpost, I made one! (It only shows the fishprints, though - I'll gladly share more screenshots if anyone is intrested in seeing the whole thing!)

Those look amazing! Really great choices, in my opinion. Glad you were able to find a good selection of images to use, they all look so sharp.

Thank you! And thanks for your suggestions - you might noticed me borrowing one or two of them!

And yeah, happy with most - Nophica's Comb could look a bit better, but the shape seemed intresting enough to me to warrant one image being a little blurry...
