I have been playing FFXIV since the second beta. At the end of last year we celebrated the first birthday of the official FFXIV release. I love the game. I stuck with FFXIV through thick and thin, and I was there to celebrate the birthday with everybody. As a reward there was a "Patriot Choker" available during the celebration. A very nice "thank you" gesture from SE. We were told it is available for a limited time only, during the festival.

Imagine my nasty surprise when I see that same "thank you for sticking with us" and "limited time only" item is now for sale in all the cities (the same merchants that sell the licenses to use the small teleport crystals). There is also bracelets available that offer the "Spirit Bind +1" effect, and I have no problem with that at all. It gives the same effects, but it is the choker that was the reward.

I feel insulted and betrayed. What's next? No need to play! Just log in after a few years and buy all the achievements?! Loyal players be damned.

Are you serious? I'd say that if the complaints have come down to something as petty as this, FFXIV is improving quite steadily.

If it makes you feel any better, it costs the newer players more seals to purchase.

It's the principle. Petty or not, I feel cheated.

By the way, seals are not required to purchase it. You have the option to use gil or seals.

I can't find the Patriot's Choker listed anywhere on the Seals exchange NPC. What are you talking about? And obtainable by Seals or Gil? Where?

And what about licenses for small crystals? The aether gates? You can buy the ability to teleport to those?

Those are sold by enterprising little Qiqirin, allowing you to buy certain GC-exclusive (that'd otherwise only be obtainable for one city like the Aetherpass) things with Gil instead of Seals, or to use your own, let's say, Flame Seals to smuggle a Gridanian Aetherpass.
Of course, the cost in Gil is... Was it 10x or 100x the price in seals? I know the Gridanian Aetherpass cost me 400k, so it should be 100x the Seal cost in Gil.
