Yea it was designed initially for the PS2 it was out for a year in Japan before they ported over to PC later. Just like FFXIV it is designed around the console.I'll blame consoles for that partially.
I tried FF11 and managed to get it to download, get through the Playonline nonsense but the menu and control system is a terrible. You can tell it used to be a console game. Instead of new content they should be refing the menu and control for modern PCs. I'd wager they would get more players.
Probably my favourite feature of ShB is the light menu option.
ALthough to give credit to FFXI it was available on PS, XbOX 360, and PC so it did have that going for it.
