    I ran along side a cnj/whm as a drg in the mid 40s, doin leves @+3~6 half our leves didn't require me pulling my weapon cause the cnj could close the fight well before he was in trouble, and thm/blm did far far more than that.
    But like Sion said it wasn't really about high level, even if they're still unbalanced in the case of "trash mobs" but against bosses my drg can usually keep up.

    Lower levels things really are up and down, at even match ~ +2 melees do great, they can take and deliver the hits, but mages excel @2~ because they can usually put the mob down or keep it at a distance where melees miss alot and are taking alot of damage.

    Yeah,

    I'm not saying WHM should get nerfed, but I was sort of confused that SE felt the need to give WHM damage capability for Solo, but didn't feel the need to give other perspective classes their better half in some minimal way either, I know Life Surge helps a Lancer a tad but I've heard not very well.

    Maybe alternative weapons are the answer. I've actually thought of what it would be like if they gave PLD either Great Swords or Dual Wield, and MRD Scythes for damage dealing purposes, obviously gimping either 2 tank wise through some means of doing that.

    Stances would be a nice alternative too for each class. A DRG would be useless to a party in many respects if he needed to sacrifice optimal DMG output for survival skills, but I doubt it would go unwelcome at lower levels solo. Higher levels it becomes a non issue because by that time DRG has several weapons in it's arsenal to take care of a foe like it's nothing.

    I don't think anything should get nerfed, but if that's what it takes to bring back some balance then that may be what happens. As a drg and slowly but surely, very very slowly, leveling pld and mnk right now, the deal is pretty much the same, I can easily work mobs ~2 levels higher, 3 I'll live but it's slow.
    A mage walks along and drops the whole group in 1 cast ...

    I accidently aggro 2 leve mob groups at once I don't have the healing power to stay upright while putting them down, if I'm casting my gimped(and rightly so) cures I'm not doling out any dmg, if I'm doling out dmg it's to 1 mob at a time.
    A mage walks along, tosses me a not gimped cure(and rightly so) and then in one cast drops both mob groups, talking no damage in the process again.

    All I'd like to see is A) One on One my DD jobs out dmg mages (even DoT no DD outparses, or even gets close to, BLM but they die trying regularly while the BLM worries very little more often than not) and/or B) I can survive getting wailed on by 3~4 mobs at a time, if a mage can drop the whole pack I should be able to also, it may take me longer to do it 1 at a time, but I should be able to survive well enough to make it through them.

    I think the most effective way would be to go back to the single target <> AoE switching, but divide dmg in AoE modes relative to the numbers of enemies hit. So while a BLM could land a [spell] against mobA for 2k dmg mobB mobC and mobD would be untouched, or they could hit mob[A~D] but the damage to each would be 2k/#ofmobshit, in this case 500 each, not weak at all, but certainly more balanced then the, 1 or 100 same damage to all system we have now.
    This also has the benefit of letting mages NOT aggro groups w/ AoE when they shouldn't.
    I don't think that any of that would be a nerf, they'd still have their massive damage potential, it'd just be reigned in a tad.
    There's already a hundred or so of the "Why melee classes/jobs so gimp in the survival dept." so I'll leave that alone for now.

    Guys quit your complaining... The current speed of soloing through levequests is perfectly fine. You can get 1 level for each set of 8 leves (and the exp rewards scale to keep that same pace all the way till cap).

    Right now it's currently Solo Grinding < Solo Leves < Group Leves < Group Grinding (from slowest to fastest). The speed is fine.
