CNJ nukes are very MP-inefficient and the low HP and defense means you have to start curing yourself very early into a battle that doesn't immediately end to your initial nukes. I haven't leveled CNJ past 1.19 (boy was it strong before combos) but I have done so for GLA and PGL and I find them to be quite fine and I solo leves with +2 levels with no issues. At +3 the dLevel penalties become too harsh and that makes some leves unsoloable.

At L50 LNC also solos equal or slightly above level mobs very well and a couple days ago I used DRG to solo exp chain up to 4, possibly 5, several times while farming Unmarked Keystones. It's no WAR who can solo huge packs at L50, but if I had been nuking non-stop as CNJ all that time I'd have gone OOM long before my DRG had to stop pulling.

    Well,

This wasn't really about anything at 50, it's early levels I was discussing.

I noticed WHM nukes as soon as I hit 45 had disproportionate MP increases, not sure if this is the same for BLM. DRG solo's perfectly fine by the time it reaches 45 from what I understand. But I don't want to create anymore flames so I dropped it.

People are entitled to their opinions.

LNC hardly survives a single levequest after level 13.
Soloed all melee via leves till 25, thus far. No issues doing leves within 3 lvls or 1 star from current level.
You are either setting the stars too high, using lvl 1 equips or you are really bad at playing.

I work 8 hours a day, have two dogs, and a wife.
And I have a wife and 2 daughters to trump your dogs. Face it. If we have a job and a family, we will never catch up to those without, regardless of how the game is made. Make solo easier and they will still be ahead of you.
Learn to accept this fact and move along at your own pace. Rested bonus works great by the way.

Just join them when you are free. You already have a L50 no? Then you should no longer be compelled to level another 50 just to play with your already-50 friends.

We all have jobs and family, its no excuse to solo. Some people just want to spend there free time partying, and some want to do it solo, you can't ask a game to cater to you specifically when they are just trying to grasp some audience. So just chill, wait till 2.0, and if they still don't cater to you, find a different game.

No matter what argument you make about something being too difficult, or one class dying easily, not being able to solo, etc., you're going to have someone say, "Haha, wow, you're doing something wrong!". The fact is, it's easier/more enjoyable for different people to play different classes.

My specific gripe with your topic post is that you're complaining about it taking too long to level solo. This isn't a race to the finish. You reach max level in two weeks, then what? You never advance further; enjoy the plateau. As far as I've seen, most end game content is group based anyway. Like it always is. So go start grouping, or tough it out.

    Hello,

I understand your frustration, but am unsure if this truly is as troubling an issue as you suggest or if it is a matter of updating your approach to combat.

I believe every job is capable of soloing up to level 50. Forgive me, for I have only tried soloing monsters with CNJ, THM, and ARC. I have observed others with LNC, PGL, and WAR doing quite nicely however.

Perhaps it's a matter of choosing the right critters to train up against? Those that work well with CNJ may not do well with ARC. For example, as an ARC I went after monsters that did not move much (Roeslings?) and found them a treat to pick off from afar. WAR would want to go against a monster that would hit it (so as to activate its weapon skills).

So it is important to choose the right target. It is also important to set expectations. It may not be fair to expect the rate of levelling solo to be the same (or better) than levelling in a party. This would negate the benefit of being in an XP party and would really hamper your ability in the future should you ever wish to party.

And finally, I would like to make an important statement:
MMORPG does *NOT* mean you HAVE to party with other people all the time to do content. It ONLY suggests that it is BIG and that it is ONLINE (and presumably persistent) and that there are many people in this world to interact with.

However... Final Fantasy has ALWAYS been about partying. The themes behind all the stories have been how a group of adventurers can {Gather Together} to become strong enough to fight fearsome enemies.

To want an MMORPG that does not require partying to succeed is fine. But it is not Final Fantasy.

(And surely, there is room in this world for at least one MMORPG that emphasises party play... as there are dozens (hundreds?) more out there that do not).

"Point and fact, if a game is not fun for everyone in some kind of way, it's unsuccessful."

This game holds no Hello Kitty trading card game, there is no Pokemon style battle duels, there is no game like Mahjong, it doesn't have an option to decorate a house with fuschia, nor is there a East V. West Rap duel, it offers no content for deaf-mutes, there is no plans for it on the original NES, there are just too many holes in it, we'll have to scrap it.

YOu do not know how much I wish there was a trading card game in here... several of the other Final Fantasy games had that.. Tripple Triad... in here.. play with other people.. collect rare cards....

    That plus crafting.

    I may never leave Ul'Dah!

(Better to make playing cards Limsa Lominsa only then, to help spread the population!)
