The housing market (for M, and L plots) is completely saturated.
I've been mansion hunting for 15 months and have never seen a lot available.
Even when square released 3 new neighbourhoods, the mansions where gone in the first 5 minutes.

Small plots meanwhile are plenty to be found.

I dont have the answer to this, but I think looking for a mansion for over a year and never seeing a (L)plot available once in a YEAR of looking is kind off rediculous.

Can we perhaps double the amount of M and L plots and reduce the S plots by 20%??? or
Make a the majority of the plots "versatile" cabable of S,M,or L depending on your own choice, giving you more options on where you want your house and what size?

Again I dont have the answer, al I'm saying is after 15 months of looking its becoming very frustrating, and from what I gather in linkshells/discord/and the Novice network, this is a pretty global problem in the game, especially since the population inflated so heavily!

Not really possible without changing the way the existing maps are structured I'm afraid. That's half the issue with the ward system, what you see is what you get and they'd have to go in and change a good deal of things to actually have certain maps with more mediums and some with more largers etc. Likewise a large house isn't going to fit on a small plot, and a medium will only just /barely/ eek out that same space while clipping over the boundary walls pretty heavily. They could very well make this change to any new maps going forward however, but I'm not entirely sure it'll happen seeing as the Firmament is structured in such a way we can already see a fair amount of small housing plots.

That said this is one of the reasons why I want the option for instanced housing. It wouldn't be an issue if they just gave us a flat space that could be expanded without impeding other people's properties and built it from the ground up to be upgradeable.

I managed to buy a mansion no problem. All I did was check the ward lists late at night. I admit I was only looking for a medium at the time but I did not pass up the chance to have a mansion instead.

There's lots of small ones because the yard is 20 items max, and the interior is well..small.

While true, there are some crafty decorators out there who figure out ways to make the interior of cottages appear much larger than they actually are. While it can be a shame to use up your property privilege on a plot that is a size you don't want, a small plot will still provide all the utility of a larger one. And if it is close to a MB/Aetheryte/Summon bell setup, I would highly consider not passing it up considering the difficulty of housing.

Dead end suggestion that won't happen but at least if housing is most important just change servers or keep hunting or buy one from people for hundreds of millions. Problem solved.

There really isn’t any good way to go about this without a rewrite of housing....and this thread repeatedly pops up, so it’s obvious at least some players feel strongly.

With the last release I was able to get a L in Shirogane and an S on the beach of mist no real problem..but it was a lot of time spent jumping around and eventually scooping up what I could ASAP. This was several hours after it went live.

Definitely not a “well I could do it so stfu!”.. 5 minutes different and I’d be just as homeless. It unfortunately comes down to a bit of RNG.

Worst case grab an S, as it allows you to bypass the wait timer if you relocate to an M or L. My FC has been together day 1 and we just got our L the last release of wards.

Eh, i am pretty happy with my S house in the Goblet. On a populated server you just do not have the luxury of actually choosing which size you want. You get what's available and that's it.

Basically, you have access to housing but you complain you cannot get the fancy ones.

What about start with your small house and check every now and then for fancy ones? At least, you are enjoying housing and you are more lucky than people living in crowded servers, whose cannot think about even a small house.

Many people are so-so about housing since its release and even more after it has been open to individuals.

But SE keeps saying they want some kind of neighborood, thought if it can make sense for FC only wards, it create ghost town when mostly indivduals owned.

They should do a housing as it is in BDO or Wildstar but I don't expect this to happen at all.

Since ARR I managed to get three mansions (two, lost them, bought a new one but finally gave it up because it was individual and FC housing is more interesting : workshop, extra rooms). I could buy two again but... I don't even try, most wards in many servers are full. And to be fair, not only there are not enough houses but considering BDO when you can buy the three biggest houses of the game (whithout restrictions or timer), the limited system in FFXIV is ridiculous.
