    Fatal DirectX Error 11000002

Title says it all, i've been getting this error for months now and it's making the game unplayable.

    Things i've tried to do:

    -Underclocking using MSI Afterburner
    -Uninstalling and Reinstalling the game
-Changing install location from D, to C.
    -DDU'ing
-Use DX9(Keeps getting fatal directx error 1100000d) so it's useless
    -Clean the fans/pc case
    -Disable overlays & startups
-PhysX Settings to my current GPU (RTX 2060)
    -Lowering fps

I'm playing on a 144hz monitor, and capped the fps to 72 fps, but i still keep getting this error, no specific location or raid, it just happens randomly.

Can you try underclocking, lowering your monitor's refresh rate to 75 (or whatever is closest and under 90) and capping FPS to same value used for the monitor refresh rate?

I've been trying to diagnose this issue since December, but I have a Radeon card (5700XT). You might have to underclock pretty significantly. I'm underclocking by almost 300MHz. Might be able to go a little higher, but I can get 60-75 FPS no problem with 1800MHz, so I'm leaving it there for now. Let me know the settings you used if you're able to try this please! Trying to collect some data points now, since I'm not convinced anymore that this will ever be fixed by driver updates.

Edit: FYI, you can loop the Shadowbringers benchmark to test, so you can step away from the computer. I think since you're on Nvidia, this should be fine. Radeon software has some shenanigans going on with game profiles that may be causing problems.

Good afternoon and thank you for posting in the Final Fantasy XIV Technical Support Forums.

Could you try doing a clean boot? Open the task manager (CTRL+SHIFT+ESC) and select the 'Start up' Tab. Disable everything here and restart the PC. Additionally, where in game do you experience this error?

Hey and thank you for the reply!

I've been trying to diagnose this problem too! I have tried underclocking significantly by 502MHz through MSI Afterburner and sadly the problem still occurs. What made this problem occur less and less is by making my shadows 540p(low) and to be honest it is not the most pleasant to look at. I will try to lower my monitor's refresh rate and capping my fps, even though it will make my experience less enjoyable, but it's better than nothing. I'm just wondering what is causing this error to begin with? is it the gpu? or is it because of overheating?

As stated above i have tried doing a clean boot, problem still occurs, there is no specific location where the error happens in- it just happens randomly.

I'm pretty sure it's this syncing issue with the game engine. The 90 FPS cap got reverted and I think now we're getting the 11000002 error when things don't load/sync properly. Can't really tell though because the error code is not helpful at all when we can't look up what it means. After the last Radeon driver update though, they fixed a black screen issue I was having and I can see what's going on in the Windows Event Log. I'm seeing mostly error c0000005 (access violation) and sometimes c0000374 (heap corruption) which sounds in line with a syncing issue to me.

The post just mentions high FPS but I crash when I set my monitor to 100Hz and you crash at 144Hz even with FPS capped under 90, so refresh rate can also cause the issue. It's also setup dependent like the post mentions. I had a Vega 64 before this 5700XT and had no issues running the same monitor at 100Hz with 100 FPS cap.

Anyway, let me know if those settings work for you please. Thanks!

I have tried to lower the refresh rate to 100Hz and capping my fps to 100, tried to play with maximum settings, crashed. I tried to lower the settings and so far no crashing! FFXIV is not the only game where I crash, I play Overwatch and playing on medium to high settings seems to make the game crash with the message "Your Rendering Device Has Been Lost". I also play BO3 and the game just freezes randomly. Is it because of the GPU in my case you think? Note that i downloaded PassMark BurnInTest, a software that tests your hardware and checks if it's working or not, the results came just fine with no errors, so I'm really confused at this point on why these crashing keep on happening on several games.

Nice When you say lower the settings, do you mean lowering the in-game settings or lowering your refresh rate and FPS cap?

Sorry, no idea about those other games. I mainly just play FFXIV now days. Rendering device lost makes me think PSU issue, but since you ran PassMark, I think you can rule hardware issues. Possibly you have some software installed that is causing conflicts. MSI Afterburner is the only one that sticks out to me from your list above. I've seen reports of it causing problems for others which uninstalling it fixes.

    Hey there. Try this.

    Internet Explorer Reset to Default
FFXIV Launcher Reset settings to Default (from launcher)
Then try logging in and tell me how you go

Good morning and thank you for the reply?

If you have not done so already, please try any of the following:

    - Remove any USB or audio devices (controllers, headphones or flash drives)
    - Try lowering the resolution or changing from windowed mode, or borderless full screen,
    - Turn off full screen optimizations
