What happened in the last week to make people so vocally against the current state?

Let me start off by saying that I agree with every criticism I've read. I run one of the largest and most active FCs on Cactuar (one of the largest servers), but I've felt extremely unmotivated to log in and play recently to the point that it's making me feel upset and fearful that I may be becoming a bad FC leader. I've been really hopeful that 6.4 will really light a fire under me to play like I did since open beta.

But I logged onto the forums today to post about pvp exp balance and I'm taken back by how many posts on here are vocally against the current state of the game. I'm used to seeing the official forums be mostly positive.

Like I said, I AGREE with all the criticisms, but one thing I noticed is that all these long posts about the current state of the game seem to have come in the last week--so I'm wondering, why? It doesn't seem like this could just be some coincidence. Did something happen in the last week that ignited all of this?

Yoshi did interview where he said that relic will have no major changes, that started it all.

Like others said, probably the free login campaign. However, I also think the Mendacity tomestone event triggered it because the main way to get the mendacity tomestones is to do Nier and MSQ roulette. The absolutely last thing someone should do is push a community who regards doing less castrum and praetorium a good thing into doing more castrum and praetorium.

The other aspect to it is that this entire content push feels a bit too safe or trying things that probably should have been avoided.

Island Sanctuary is basically Warlords of Draenor phone mini-game that is made more tedious by having to log in and go to the island. It can be automated fully to minimize interaction, but when that system is added on top of checking retainers, doing gold saucer dailies, checking retainers, keeping grand company members out on the daily missions, doing whatever you need to do for rep grind, doing daily roulette... it turns into a daily laundry list of tasks that can easily take half an hour to an hour of someones limited playtime.

The new deep dungeon is basically a third PoTD, but the story was stronger in the first one thanks to the setup and long term players are much less likely interested in doing them as they have almost all jobs leveled to 90. Not to mention the competency curve at end game discourages taking time out to go level other jobs.

I'm not going to claim I have any idea what they need to do to make the game better, but I know that more grind content is not going to fix it. Better to let people hit an end point and let them take a break. It's okay to not have people log in every day.

It's the biggest one when you look up FF14. Don't go there, you'll get yourself banned rather easily if you dare to have an opinion that a Mod or the mob mentality doesn't agree with.

I was banned for saying that in low level Dungeons they should let the tank pull as they're still learning. I was attacked by the mob and the Mod muted and banned me because I was a troublemaker even when I was being cussed out and harassed by numerous users. It was easier to punish me then those that were breaking the rules. That and a few of them were buddies with the mod. Naturally the other Mods looked at the logs and backed their fellow Mod. The unofficial WoW discord has that issue too.
