I pull in 50k-60k every full diadem run. I'm pulling in 150k per day, while working a full time job(no coronavirus shutdown for me, working in a hospital), and was doing 200k-250k on the weekend, knowing I wouldn't have the time during the week to do more than 3 runs, max. It's all about double hooking every gobbie, and properly using your skills to maximize casts and cloud cutter mooches. Also, gobbies, and all other diadem fish, stop getting away at 2050 gathering. It's a really high number, but if you're gonna go hard, you're gonna need to go hard on melds and food too. It's not magic, it's simply knowing how to optimize the RNG you're given. When I first started I was very sub-optimal and was only doing like, 20k-30k per run, but with each day I have improved my efficiency and now I have not had a sub-50k run in the last 10 runs or so, many of those being 60k+ runs. I know people who aren't hardcore about it think it's some sort of cheap trick or something, but I assure you, it's just a matter of working hard AND working smart. If I can hit and maintain the number 1 spot on a relatively large server while working a full-time job, anyone with the will to learn the rhythm and do more than a single run a day can hit top 12 on almost any server.

The easiest way to determine if someone's botting is to simply follow them for a little bit. You'll notice their flight paths have very specific, janky movements with no deviation whatsoever. The odds a player will make such movements, especially consistently, is almost zero since people are prone to stagger stops, misaligned flying and just general twists or turns that come from actively pressing or holding down a button. A program won't have any of this since flight paths are mapped out via a script. You can google around and likely find videos people have recorded. It's not even hard to find outright tutorials.

Unfortunately, SE does almost nothing to combat bots like this; either due to sheer ignorance, incompetence or they simply don't care.

I've started seeing some DoH botters skyrocketing through the rankings, too.

Or at least I'm assuming they're botting judging from prior history of doing it on DoL classes coupled with a tendency to stay logged on all night with DND enabled while on a crafting class.

I feel like they should've just left the collectability on expert recipes uncapped to give people doing them without macros/bots an even bigger edge.

Yeeeeah, I've been looking at the ranks and I have no clue how someone could be pulling these numbers with the amount of points I get from 1 straight hour of grinding in there. Smells like bots or shared accounts to me. But who knows, maybe someone can "Umm, actually" me on the math here that would convince me a person could pull it off.

Keep in mind that it's possible to horde turn-ins then do them all at once for whatever reason; though I honestly can't think of any reason other then trolling people who thought they were in a secure position in the top 12.

Yeah, you can horde stuff to turn them in.

But there's math to this. Some how 1st place is gathering enough to have around double the amount of points as 2nd-3rd-4th place.
Just how much would someone have to gather to have 500-600K+ in a single gathering job this soon after release?

Check out Ragnarok (Chaos DC) . Top fishers have scores in the millions. This is such an insane world to race on.

If you meet certain stat break points (usually through melding) and know how the node mechanics work you will vastly out point someone just from efficiency. Same with Fisher. When I first started I was using a really inefficient method to catch the point fish. Losing a double hook on Gobbiemask is painful.

The thing with it being a competition is that the players who are trying to hold rank are not going to tell everyone what they are doing because they don't want to be displaced. Of course, botting/account sharing is also in the realm of possibility but stats matter here, especially for gatherers. After that it's just time spent.

You know, this explains a lot. I am not super into this by any means being only casual. My gathering is only in the 1300's so a bit low. Even my game wife, who is super into this crafting/gathering stuff, commented on how low it was for 80. Trying to overmeld is wayyyy too expensive for as little as I actually do gathering.

So if you do need scores above 2000 to be good and efficient, I guess I am going to suck doing it. ;p

I've seen characters bot in Diadem and reported them FWIW. I don't think anything will come of it because "it's just a title" (which still aggravates me to no end. Reminds me of when we got earrings for winning in Feast grrrr)

What I'm saying is... crafters deserve a Mylodon mount. It is Ishgard, after all.
