Well, rankings are over now and the few botters I did bother reporting were not removed, so I guess that shoots down any hope I had that they might start taking the issue more seriously when rewards are on the line.

They did make a twitter post about the rankings, so maybe condensing complaints into there would get them noticed better.

I think if you see someone cheating you should report them and move on.

Otherwise there is too much wrong with trying to cast suspicions on people or certain behaviors that it's borderline harassment and stalking. Leave it to those in charge to decide if any disciplinary action should be taken.

Considering how awful the track record of the STF is when it comes to actually dealing with cheaters, it's pretty hard to not want to start taking matters into one's own hands after a while; though anyone who did cheat to get their top 12 title is liable to end up exposing themselves regardless because botting is a habitual thing for most people, not a one and done deal (Which was very much true of all the cheaters from my server).

The next ranking is liable to actually be worse then the first simply because people are going to have access to optimized botting scripts from day one, whereas it took almost a week before they started showing up droves this time around.

All of the top legit grinders and top botters who got top 12 will not be able to participate in the next season, so the competition from both groups will be far, far less next season. Season 2 will basically be a freebie to anyone who didn't get top 12 this time. As a gauge for what to expect, I would say whatever the 13th place was this time will be the general range for the high end of the rankings next time around. And 13-100 will basically be free to anyone who participates even once. It practically was this time. And season 3 if they do it a third time? Most servers will be lucky to even see a top 100 at all. While I like the idea of multiple seasons with top-ranking participation only being allowed once, it does mean the competition will go down drastically with each iteration, which means there will unlikely be very many seasons, probably only three. 5.21 was season 1, 5.31 will be season 2, and 5.41 or 5.51 will be season 3, coinciding with the completion of the Ishgardian Restoration as a whole.

I don't know if that's true. I think they said there's no reason to win more than once, not that you couldn't. Some people won on multiple jobs and got the prize for both this time, so they could probably win in the next season too. So if botters want to keep their title "prestigious" and limit the number of people who have it they just have to run their bot again next season.

People that won multiple awards this time did so on Beatus, which is extremely easy to do. 13th-100th placers would never be locked out of future seasons since they still have the 1-12 title to get. It should only lock 1-12 placers from participating. The fact that 1-12s also got multiple beatus this time around is just a quirk of the system, they won't be able to do it again next season as well. And I don't remember the exact wording without fishing through the live letters and such but I remember it being pretty clear that once you got the rewards you wouldn't be able to do other seasons. There was a big uproar about it before it was also mentioned that the reward would be the same thing for every class so people who got it once wouldn't need to worry about other rewards for other classes. I guess we'll see how it all exactly works when next season drops, but I assume it will work mostly the way I described, barring the usual SE WTF way of going about things sometimes.

Maybe SE doesn't have an "awful track" with cheaters and the person you're consistently reporting just isn't a botter. Maybe they're not replying to your /tell because they don't want to, or they're ignoring the tab. Maybe their actions look janky to you because of lag, or because they're not concentrating and are flying in a straight line. Have you tried doing the Firmament fate? With the lag everyone is teleporting all over the place and there's a lot of jankiness, or are they all bots?

No, I have played FFXI since 2005 and this game since 2010, they definitely have an awful track record with botters and ppl using cheats because they are so scared about offending a cheater or accidently banning the wrong person they just ignore it for the most part, unless its just too disruptive to ignore.

Any proof for your statement, or just typical tinfoil hat? If there was any truth to your statement then why would they ban people monthly for botting and RMT? The person you're constantly reporting isn't botting, that's why they're not getting banned. That's further proven when people have been complaining about botting in diadem when the bot didn't offer Diadem support until a few days ago, something you can easily check yourself as I'm not going to post a link here. Not sure why you need to wave around how long you've been playing as it doesn't lend any credibility to your theory.

The fact that you are so well versed on bots that you could provide links and know what services they offer so well that you know when and how they have updated those services, also suggests why you are so defensive and confrontational about this subject and are trying to deflect and start a flame war rather than converse like a grown up.

If you've been around and reported any player botter over the years and actually kept an eye out, you can clearly see how unresponsive reporting them is. No one can provide proof here though because while all botting is handled by the STF, harassment (name & shaming) is handled by the GM team whom for the most part handle issues in a timely manner and despite obvious cheating, the botters are still protected by that part of the ToS.

They did something to Frontlines bots only after there was a Q&A with Foxclon (STF leader) and people spammed that topic with questions why nothing is being done about Frontline bots. Later he actually answered that during liveletter.
