Teleport/Return Animation: I would like to see player's characters become aglow with pure white (or iridescent) light and either shatter into a firework of sparks or condensce into an infinately small ball of white light that disapears upon teleportation.

I should state I think learning how to cope with animation lock does require skill, as I see many people unable to do it. But that said, I think our skills should be tested by other mechanics than this. Truthfully if the only thing in the game locking me in place was a WS and I could quickly abort spellcasts or use "instant" abilities on the move, I'd probably be alright as the concept of committing to large damage is not all that terrible in my eyes. But in the end, I like the ability to move at a moment's notice nomatter what I am doing, especially if it requires split-second timing. That is the kind of mechanics I want to have to utilize skill for, because they still feel fluid and like I am in complete control.

Right now 14 does not make you feel in control of your character, it makes you feel like there is a thick layer of molasses between you and them slowing everything you attempt to do down. This kind of delay and feeling of distance between you and your character kills games for me and I'd imagine it's killed games for many other people as well.

But I was pretty sure that between 2.0 being able to blend upper and lower body animations to potentially allow running WSs and Yoshi stating animation lock would be fixed in 2.0, this was more or less /thread. At this point it's REALLY just about opinions which I'm pretty sure everyone's opinion will have equal weight in how they go about fixing it. The graphics will remain pretty, we won't get stuck in place anymore, and the servers will be more responsive. WE ALL CAUGHT THE DRAGON AND WON.

once again this seems like a cry from someone who can't adapt to the game mechanics.

i'm going to hit a lot of points already mentioned: animation lock is great! it's frustrating but to some extent, it separates the the skilled from the unskilled. you need to know when to use what and compensate for any other factors present.

OP; this is just a nice way to say that you suck and want the game dumbed down. moving during animations!? sliding across the screen??? come the fuck on now, if they make it so you can move during whirlwind, possibly the LONGEST AND WORST ws to use, on basically any boss and maybe even EVER then that's fuckin retarded.

you're trying to score huge numbers on an enemy so you should also be taking a chance with your life! i can't even really gather all of my feelings about this because it's just another one of those whines from players with the inability to adapt! it's like people who cry about getting hit by eruptions. i went to ifrit the first time since the patch yesterday and killed ifrit in 4 minutes... FOUR MINUTES! i wish they would make him HARDER! MUCH HARDER, so all you gimps don't even have a fighting chance.

it's my birthday and i'll cry if i want to but it's not so go pro or go home DAMN, yall make me seem like such a pissed off, jerk.

I haven't been keeping up with this thread but it's not all about animation locks. Even if it was about that, a one-sentence response in an interview is nothing to go on. 2.0 is looked at as the Second Coming of Christ but it is hardly that and I would like to hear some comments from the battle team about what this thread IS about, which is about animation implementation in this game, including animation lock.

In the original version of this game there were no raids; nothing but open world NMs. The limitations of the animation implementation weren't totally apparent. Crafting was boring enough to force serious crafters to Netflix, but I think it's only now becoming apparent through the release of timing-based encounters what the underlying approach was to animation in this game. It's simple, animation needs to be completely overhauled. I'd like to know how it's going to be.

You're not a pissed off jerk, you're just someone of very average intelligence. I'd put your IQ somewhere around 100. Why? Because I think WSes shouldn't be clipped. Somehow you missed that due to some slower than average reading comprehension. Also if you didn't have your head up your ass you'd know I don't think the encounters in the game are hard at all. I also didn't say anything about sliding. I've also done everything there is to do in this game. I'd say more but you probably wouldn't be paying attention.

I can completely agree with you, as there are numerous things I'd like actual Dev comments on. Just how they will handle animation lock being one, and just how much better the servers will be in 2.0. Yoshi has made statements basically defending the fact that there will always be server delay due to how networking works while saying every other MMO works that way. That's great... but no other MMO takes as long to do it, and I want to hear from him that 2.0 will make FFXIV like every other mmo in the "not taking forever to do what every other mmo does" department. But it felt (to me) like that initial response was kind of an excuse for the game to still be sluggish when 2.0 hits (which I hope it's not).

I think it is likely SE is still working with or balancing the way they will "deal" with animation locking, and don't want to make an announcement to us before they're concrete on their course of action. I'm mostly ok with that, but I don't want to wait until 2.0 to know what is going to be fixed and how.

    A couple points...

    1. With less server and positional lag at 2.0... even if there is still animation lock... it will be a lot less deadly... and a lot less annoying
Anyone who says that it involves skill now, its a game mechanic... no.. just no... dealing with lag is temporary... having to account for lag should not be a long term mechanic of this game... its a right now.. pre-2.0 mechanic... this kind of lag/latency after 2.0 will indeed kill the game... no matter what

    2. Regarding the actual animation lock, it does feel awkward. I can do a weaponskill, and then a flash, going by my chatlog and action bar... the Flash goes off even though my weaponskill animation has just started
It makes it feel weird that my animation for 1 weaponskill overlaps 2 abilities... so at that point I am backed up on animation locks... And it is dangerous when you have multiple animations queued up
