Artificially locking progress through MSQ behind compulsory trials

As a newer player I am really struggling to come to terms with this, I am very much enjoying other aspects of this game and particularly the rich worlds, however this restriction on progress is really a turn off for players starting fresh. I have managed to progress through to 80 on my first job having struggled through long waits at 50 and 60 to finish the MSQ for ARR and HW, then exceptionally long waits 3-4 hours to finish SB, now we are looking at over 7 hours in que for The Dying Gasp just to get to the end of 5.0. I understand that this is dependant on other players queing for older content however is there any reason that these instances have to lock the MSQ just to trigger cutscenes? Granted that this is Square's product and their creative vision however they are definately turning away new players who enjoy the lore of FF but are being hamstrung. Could these possibly have the option of being run as 4 man Trusts, scaling down the boss?
Apologies if this is in the wrong category, first time posting
    Thanks for any feedback

If you're playing on the Typhon server like it says on your profile there, your problem is probably that it's in the Japanese data center. If you're an English-speaker, and have only English as your selected language, the game will struggle to fill your queues with other English speakers. Try changing your language settings to allow for Japanese, and you may find your queues significantly shortened.

Aha. Figured that could be the one exception here. Yeah, Australia is a bit out of luck on that one. As I've heard it, Tonberry is the "unofficial" Aussie server, but, for duty queuing, it wouldn't matter, as it pulls from entire data center. Knowing that the queue pulls from every server on the center, and that the majority of them won't be English speaking, yeah, still probably expanding language options will help.

If you post down in the New Player folder about the Aussie experience, you might get a few more responses from other players down there that can relate better and maybe help more with improving your experience.

As a fellow aussie in a japanese server i can defs recommend having both languages active in DF, naturally this means you can't communicate with a lot of the randoms you pt with but I've never had major issues while playing since beta. Started on an American server but concluded it wasn't worth the extra ping after attempting titan HM lol

Seven hours in the queue suggests you are definitely set to "English only" for your duty finder settings. That means you are waiting for seven L80 English speakers, including two tanks, to queue for trial roulette at the point when you're trying to get into the duty.

Levelling roulette ignores language settings, which is why you won't have had anywhere near as much trouble getting into dungeons - although you've probably noticed some slowdown at Lv50/60/70 which is a separate roulette.

Setting it to all languages speeds up your queue massively, and you're rarely expected to talk so it doesn't even matter 99% of the time. (The other 1% you get to spend playing charades with the auto-translate dictionary.)

To adjust your language options, there's a small "gear" button in the top bar of the duty finder window.

(There are a decent number of English players on Typhon; you just need to know you can look for them.)

A player main on Typhon here!

Like what others had suggest, it's best for you to turn on both J and E language for faster queue! Personally I don't switch on D and F because players on Japanese data center rarely use those as their main language but you can switch them on for even faster queue.

It's okay if you're not confident with Japanese speakers because you can always say you're new to the content. You can also use the auto-translate "This is my first time here" and "Thank you""Good game!" after the battle ended. 99% they won't make a deal out from your lack of Japanese understanding *totally not based of personal experience cough cough*
