Yes it's a pandemic, but it's basically the flu. (Edit: A potentially severe form that we don't have immunity/vaccines for at this point, but still part of that family of viruses.) The average person who gets it will be dealing with it by staying home. That's what the panic buying is about - people being paranoid about the idea that they wouldn't be able to go out to the shops if they got sick.

Second edit because I did word this badly the other day: I did not mean that the virus is not serious. The flu is also serious for some percentage of people that catch it. But at the present point in time it is not affecting a large percentage of the population in a way that makes it necessary to halt the housing timer, and they're not going to do it based on speculation.

    No ITS NOT.
Its 20-30 times more deadlier than normal flu and about 20% of all cases requires hospitalization including oxygen intake, it also gives several times worse complications that could do permanent damage to your lungs, heart and nerve system that could carry on for the rest of infected person life. Stop being ignorant.

Without having done in-depth reading (I don't have time to research right now) I was going from what I read this morning.

    https://mobile.abc.net.au/news/2020-...tions/12042318

[Q:] Is coronavirus worse than the flu?

Many people diagnosed with the coronavirus will feel like they have the flu.

The main difference between COVID-19 and the flu is that there is a lack of immunity in the community for the new coronavirus because there is no vaccine.
As I understand it, the normal flu (also a coronavirus) can have similarly severe effects, we just have more immunity and vaccines.

Perhaps the rate of severe cases is different. As I said, do your research but from reliable sources.

No, normal flu is influenza, which is a different virus altogether.

Coronavirus is actually normally a cold virus but this one is a cold that bought a level jump potion.

Many people who get it won't experience anything worse than a bad cold. Turns out a coworker of mine had it two weeks ago and nobody thought to test for it since she didn't have contact with anyone known with it and didn't have any symptoms beyond a bad fever, a dry cough, and general fatigue. She recovered in about six days. Said it was the ugliest cold she'd ever had, but she tested negative for the flu and we weren't supposed to have "community transmission" where I live. Whoops.

Wouldn't the coronavirus cause people to visit their houses more often? If you end up stuck inside what else are you going to do besides go online?

Please Remove Covid-19 on behalf of housing timers.

    no?

    Darn.

All things considered though, since most places are instructing people to stay home, shouldnt you have an easier time keeping your house?

Agreed, I'm pretty sure this is the criteria for suspending timers.

Colds and influenza are both coronaviruses.

To be clear, I'm not saying the disease isn't potentially serious if you catch it. But it's severe on a case-by-case basis, not at a population-wide level. There's no guarantee that the subset of the population who catch it and develop complications overlaps with the subset of "people who play FFXIV". It's not something that's affecting everyone to that degree.

My question how earn money to pay bills when your city in lockdown you can't leave to go to work and can't go to store to buy supplies. Sounds like a pretty big emergency to me. Washington State where I live getting hit hard by it. I heard now there Is out break of it just 40 miles away from where I live.

It's a lot more problematic than the flu. For start there is medication you can take for the flu, but there isn't any specifically for the corona virus yet. This makes it very dangerous to anyone who already has other health issues that compromise their immune system or give them any sort of breathing problems. I'm actually very worried about my father because he has asthma. If he gets the virus he could be in serious trouble. He has a job in which he travels a lot so he gets a lot of opportunity to get exposed to viruses. I'm really hoping his managers will give him time off soon.

That being said I don't think it's an excuse to buy half a year's worth of toilet paper.

This is certainly something to consider when thinking of whether SE should pause demolition or not.
