Less advertising in launcher please.

Today there was a new advert in my launcher to add retainers.

There is too much noise and advertising to buy things all around us in life already.
A game is a great way to turn that noise down.
A small launcher that is game focused is a good thing.

A larger launcher with advertisements to buy things is a bad noise.

I'm a lot less inclined to play today.

It's funny how they're advertising the ability to rent more retainers during the patch where they added more stuff for crafters and gatherers. >w>

I honestly find it very disgusting that as paying customers, we're being told in our game's launcher to pay more. Game starts feeling like a f2p mmo with the amount of extra money they're asking.

Personally the "ads" are for their own services and IMO that's fine. They aren't cluttering anything up and you can easily over look them. There better things to add such as an option to remember my login on this PC so I don't need to always put my password in OTP in. Get up to par with modern game launchers already.

How will they make money off of people like me if they don't advertise though?

You only see the launcher for as long as it takes to put in a password, and for PS4- it's instant with the password save feature.

It's common place for just about every mmo I've played and only keeps the revenue coming in. And again, you only see it for as long as it takes to type in a password. No one's forcing you to keep playing. If there's a severe drop in players from it, then sure it could be addressed. If not, I think it's a big you issue.

To get away from this kind of stuff is why FFXIV came onto my radar as a possible MMO to play to start with.
They were the one remaining subscribe to play MMO as far as I am aware.

There is a noticeable difference in friendliness of player base when pay options aren't at the forefront.
This is because interactions with other players and self development are the forefront when the pay extra elements are not present.

I only have a few days of game time left.
It will certainly be time for a break if the spam in the launcher is still there.
Things like this set the tone. Is it about an online adventure with other players?
With the way it is right next to the play button this sets a tone away from adventure and away from other players.

The launcher is the first thing you see, it shifts the mind into gear.
If the launcher is bad, the gears of the mind will grind instead of operate freely as they should.

I am a new player and I tend to just use the launcher as a place to login and that is it. If there is something important I need to see I will likely find it on the subreddit or discord server.
