Also while I'm here...
Healers...
So long as you fail to keep dps and tanks alive because you refuse to cast or use a "GCD" heal/shield to push more damage, Square-Enix should not, and I encourage them -to not- add complexity to the healer role.

Hate to break it to you, but the healers who push damage (read: healers who are actually participating and contributing instead of twiddling their thumbs) generally aren't the ones wiping groups. They care about playing optimally and usually know their toolkit inside out and how to use it efficiently.
The "pure healers" are interestingly enough usually bad healers. I've seen many low damage healers who are overhealing like crazy, afk at critical moments, panicking over any damage and missing half their key abilities.

Yep, generally that is exactly how it is. My cohealer will be over here standing still, casting aoe heals when everyone is topped off and no mechanics are going to be going out, and casting heals if someone loses 1% health PLUS casting a regen if they are WHM.Hate to break it to you, but the healers who push damage (read: healers who are actually participating and contributing instead of twiddling their thumbs) generally aren't the ones wiping groups. Yeah. The only time I really actually have to break out a cure 2 or whatever is when everyone in the party is taking so much damage I run out of heals to keep people alive, or I have to solo heal because of dead cohealer. People horribly failing mechanics.Uhh...
Most deaths come from DPS/Tanks messing up and eating a one-shot mechanic to the face. Since that's how they design encounters. You're either 100% life or 0% life. Outside of the Tank/Raidbusters that can easily be healed with oGCD's.
GCD healing isn't going to do anything against one-shots.

And what about healers who have no trouble keeping their party up even while dpsing?

As a healer: I have no problem keeping tanks and heals alive despite every effort they make to purposely ignore mechanics thinking "I'll Adjust". After so many vulnerability stacks, they're going to be one shot.
Veteran healers don't care if we need to heal, but right now we don't. We want interesting things to do during the downtime other than a 30s dot and a single filler spell that hasn't changed from lvl 4 to lvl 90.
Dead DPS do no DPS. Raised DPS do 25/50% lower DPS. Do the mechanics and don't stand in bad stuff.
Other games expect basic competence, FFXIV is pleasantly surprised by it. Other games have toxic elitism. FFXIV has toxic casualism.[/LIST]
Is that a challenge? Because... I mean I could totally put effort into being the exception to that case ;P lol
Well unless you're the healer in that one Eden 7 group when I spaced out during the light/dark waves and stood in the wrong row for my buff after they went into the portals. I'm still not sure how I took 0 damage from that but the fact the other people with my color buff died because they followed me made it more of a wtf moment.

Don't talk about things you don't understand, please.
We don't "refuse to cast GCD heal to push damage". If a GCD has to be cast for whatever reason it is, it will be (to keep people alive you know ?)
We spend our ressources properly/depending on the situation, which allow us to push damage.
And what you're saying is "congratz for understanding the game and your class very well, now be bored".
I'm not gonna panic press helios like crazy if I have earthly star on and the whole party inside.
I'm not gonna panic press Benefic II on the tank if a scholar put an Excog on him (and I have essential dignity)
I'm not gonna panic press helios if I know there will be no direct damage/threat until a certain time and Celestial opposition regen will top us off for the next mechanic.
I'm not gonna waste mana on GCD heal that oGCD will cover safely.
And those are example among others.
Have you ever wondered why we meet those WHM player, almost always low on mana, complaining "aww, it's hard to heal no mana, can't heal anymore" - "eww my co-healer is dpsing and let me heal everything"
No sweetie, you just don't use your toolkit correctly and don't understand how to play your class
And last note : we used to have more dots. Maintaining a dot for every 24/30s is not what I call "complexity". If anything, it's even better to contribute to damage this way than spamming what used to be a filler. Because by the time it ticks, the damage are here and you're free to do whatever you want, and if nothing's required => filler.
Now please...

How often does this actually happen? Besides, I'm sure adding complexity won't make healers edge any less (with how game is designed).
I'm guessing you're one of those players that blames healer for not keeping you at 100% HP when you die from AoE.
