Make seasonal furniture available later (not on mogstation) if you participated.

So, one thing that gets me EVERY SINGLE TIME there is furniture from an event is the fact that furniture takes up a lot of space (one slot per) and can only be purchased again on the mogstation for a ridiculous price later.

This is a problem for a number of reasons. Firstly, even if you participated in the event you may not have the foresight to buy all the items you will want in the future. For example, the christmas snowman lamp ended up being very popular with people to use as modern lights with a floating glitch. Those who didn't realize it right away didn't have the chance to buy a ton... so now they can only purchase them later for like $5 each when they're going to need, say, 10 of them for a design they want to do - or more.

Secondly, furniture takes up a lot of space as I mentioned. So even if you have the foresight to think maybe you might want something later, you may not have the space for it.

And lastly, our housing ideas always change so maybe we think we don't want something but later we get an idea and we do. But now we're screwed because we didn't get it when it was available and now we have to pay for something we could have gotten for free.

I get SE wants money but I've always felt this particular instance is just so greedy. With outfits (even though I think they should be available for purchase without using real money whenever the event returns), AT LEAST you can store it in the armoire which has unlimited space. So even if you think you might not want it now, you can get it and store it and maybe you'll change your mind later.

So I propose that if we participate in the event, we should be able to buy the furniture whenever we want from maybe the salvager npc or something (they could even have the stipulation that you had to have bought the item at least once for this to work). Or make us wait until the event returns again and make it purchaseable through the event NPC.

Please, SE. This is the most obnoxious thing and it plagues me nearly every event.

EDIT: If you really can't do this, SE, then please stop making seasonal furniture. It's frustrating. Stick to outfits, minions, mounts and emotes. Those only require one per character and I'm always happy to buy those if I happened to miss the event for some reason, too.

^ I second this! This is something I've been thinking about for years as glamour rewards from seasonal events are later purchasable from the
calamity salvager. So why not the furniture rewards as well?

I really hope this will be implemented into the game at some point.

They would need to make alterations to furniture so it has an extra 'owner' tag on it and then remove said furniture if that person were no longer associated with the estate or delete it on removal attempt by someone else. Otherwise they'd just have people buying up infinite to resell via tenant rights.

As awesome as that would be, I just don't see it ever happening.

Dustytome highlighted the main problem, people could easily trade items via tenant rights, or even FC housing permissions, but even if they were to spend the time (and money) to adjust furniture so they could enforce the owner of it, they're really not going to want to implement something that would take away from their income.

We have no idea how many items are sold on the mogstation as they don't release that information, but any sales at all is more money for them than none if they let people rebuy old items for free.

I know it's pretty unlikely since it cuts into profits but it's just really scummy and something that they SHOULD rectify in my opinion. At the very least, they should give us an item like the armoire in which you can store unlimited amounts of furnishings.

As it stands, you could still do that now with tenant rights if you really wanted to. Buy a ton of something and store it in an apartment or something and then move it as you're ready to "trade", into an actual house or something. People may even do this, I have no idea. BUT MOST PEOPLE would have done the event anyway on their own. I feel like only a small fraction of people would be actually missing it.

But if that's the way of it, then I'd rather they just remove seasonal furniture altogether. It's frustrating. Just make outfits, mounts, minions and emotes and leave it at that. You only need one of those per character. Whereas furniture, you might need 10+ to do as you envisioned.

Seasonal furniture hasn't gone on the calamity salvager for years now. Even when it did, it was only ever furniture you could buy with gil, not "do theatrhythm 40 times for enough tokens to trade for 20 snowmen" furnishings.

People very much do this already, but it's with the items they actually earned/purchased during the event. I've seen a few people doing this with mogstation items as well, but it should be noted that trading in-game items/currency for mogstation items is considered RMT. I'm not against the idea of making items you've unlocked from an event available from a vendor at all. I would very much love to just have items 'unlocked' instead of filling up private rooms/apartments/retainers with furniture and not be concerned about displaying holiday consumables that after 10 clicks cost as much as an actual meal to replace. SE would just have to make changes to ensure they're not completely killing their mogstation sales.

I always thought it would be interesting if we could get recipes for the seasonal items. Like make them cost a lot of whatever token they're using for that event that year and then we can just craft them ourselves when we want to use them.

They could add it for achievement certificates, if you unlocked it then you can rebuy it, but it would be limited. It would be still bound to you, but you couldn't make gil of it forever.
