Newbie to the Diadem. How to gain access?

As the title says I never did Diadem before but now I find myself interested to engage the Ishgard restoration patch.

However my FC does not have an house and I do not have access to anyone willing to take me along. Did they have implemented a way to get in completely solo?

How do I even unlock the Diadem? The NPC does not give me any option to access it from the airship landing and I do not know where to actually complete the Trial of the Matron thing.

Can anyone educate me on the matter please?

Head to the airship dock in Ishgard right next to the AST guild. Assuming it hasn't changed then you can talk to the npc there to queue solo. You might have a quest or two to finish first but I think it starts there too.

Found the quest npc: NPC Aurvael in the Pillars (X:14.5 Y:10.9).

If Aurvael is still in the Pillars, that's probably an error. He has moved to one of the stalls in the Firmament with the new round of quests, and you'll be directed to speak to him there. Then you can access the Diadem by speaking to him again.

If you can't see the quest marker, you'll need to run around until you're close enough to the NPCs for the markers to load, or wait for a day or two for the crowd to clear.

And if you haven't unlocked the Firmament at all yet, you'll need to start by looking at the recruitment notice near the aetheryte plaza.
